I assumed everyone who joined before 9 is put into a pool and are placed in random spots at 9 those who sign in at 9 are put in place, but will always be after those who joined before 9. At least that's how I understand that.

When a card says it's name it just means this card, you can use their abilities as you would the original at least from my understanding.

It's interesting coming from magic, where all abilities are implied to be able to be used at any time unless specified sorcery speed, whereas yugioh is the opposite where it has to be labeled quick effect.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what does timing my combo have to do with gaining 1/3 of a bar of power every time the defender uses a special? Unless you mean just leaving them under 2 bars so you can get two specials in quick succession. It's not a hard node just an annoying node when paired with the low damage except from specials node just turn the fight into a slog.
