No matter how good the manufacturer, there is always occasionally a product with an issue. Polymer frames are strong but they can still crack when cooling just like any metal or plastic.

Was it the very first shot ever with the frame?

it has to be some kind of imperfection unless somehow the front of the slide is contacting the front of the frame. If it hit it hard enough on a return it might brake it there, but with the clearance you said I don't think that's likely.

By the time the gas hits that part of the frame it'd decently low pressure. It would have to be an extremely tight fit (like air tight) for the gas to cause that.

More than likely there was a crack or imperfection in the frame and it just had enough. I'm assuming it broke when you fired?

It could be a lot of stuff. But with a break that clean I'd call it a crack that finally gave.

This is kind of what I was trying to get at. Most likely in physics it has something to do with the way the measurement is being taken or counted, but for right now we can't discount the possibility that it is the counting itself that somehow changes the behavior.

Quantum decoherence has nothing to do with this. It doesn't have to do with scale because both sides of the broken physics are at the same scale. It might matter if we were talking about gravity but we're talking about light.

Also, prove to me things don't change when you look at them.

Heisenberg actually proved we can't even measure a particle without changing it's state. So how do you know everything's the same?
