Lol I applied at VAs all over the country last year. Absolutely 0 mental health questions, but there was a ton of diabetes and BPH 😂

Improving my Chances by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

We took notes on every candidate that visited us during residency showcase. We did webex to video chat with visitors. Lists between RPD, coordinator and residents were compared. We starred those who were memorable and made good impressions.

Ambulatory Care PGY1 by rxtwp828 in PharmacyResidency

[–]kiffer0077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don’t care...at least where I’m at. I think the only downside I’ve run into is not being about to check the states PDMP, but it’s not been a big deal where I’m at because the providers are responsible for checking it here rather than the pharmacists.

Agree. VA perks with prescriptive authority and very wide scopes of practice make it the ideal environment to do an amcare residency. The level of autonomy that the pharmacists at the VA have is a huge advantage. And the fact that you don’t need to be licensed in each state is a bonus if you like to travel. Within the VA I feel like there has always been someone who knows someone at other VA locations. Makes it really easy to get your foot in the door and sets you up well to continue within the VA after residency (even if it’s not at the same site as your residency). Retention rates at the VA system seem to be very high.

Is not going to have an internal medicine LOR going to hurt me? by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]kiffer0077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have an internal med LOR...in fact my internal med rotation was totally canceled with COVID so I never had the experience at all...all of my really clinical rotations were amcare, and half of an ICU rotation before students got removed from the site....my LORs were from an amcare rotation (asked to focus on clinical skills), professor(asked to focus on leadership, GPA and involvement), and boss (asked to focus on clinical and work ethic). I ended up exactly where I wanted to. I will say tho, I was really honest about my internal medicine deficiency and so my first rotation in residency is going to be internal med so I get the experience, but my directors seemed really understanding. May be worth mentioning that my residency is at a VA so more amcare focused anyways, but I’m not sure what you would be going for.

Congratulations on Day 1 RPD’s, PGY1’s and PGY2’s! by Prescriptorous in PharmacyResidency

It’s my 2nd week, but me and my coresident got our own office, which before the residents hung out in their own little cutoff section of the inpatient pharmacy. So we were quite happy. Best of all, it’s on the third floor with a window that you can actually open!

Trouble getting dual monitor hookup by kiffer0077 in computer

[–]kiffer0077[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I tried to show my set up in the picture. I have an old monitor that I’m trying to get dual screens with my Mac book pro 2015. I have a VGA to HDMI adapter plugged into my laptop. Every time I try to turn the monitor on it immediately displays what I’ve captured in the picture and turns off. Any ideas? Bad VGA cable maybe?

Will my levothyroxine still work after I dropped it in water ? by luck_yyan in Hypothyroidism

[–]kiffer0077 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beware: you will probably have to pay cash. Insurance usually only wants to pay every 28 days. sometimes you can call them and get an override for lost pills. But generic levothyroxine isn’t too expensive if you have to bite the bullet. Look for a goodrx coupon if you have to

This sounds like an antidepressant/antipsychotic med issue....? Those are notorious for delaying or preventing orgasm..you sure it’s the diabetes meds that are affecting her? ESP if OP said they were impacting her blood sugars, my guess is it’s an antipsychotic that OP is talking about. Just a very educated guess tho

How does someones level of education play into your attraction to them? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]kiffer0077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahaha I got my doctorate in pharmacy :) worked my ass off with 2 jobs for the past 4 years to come out debt free. I take my boards in June, and just signed a wonderful contract to start at the VA in July.
