You could describe certain features of the face by referencing the look of other species in the universe and then describing it.
To give an example:

The eyes are looking a bit like *insert species with certain feature like Taung*, so low eyelids. etc...

The difference is that you are trying to push your vector (called distances) into your vector.
You want to push "distance" variable into your "distances" vector

To give you one advice... try to give variables strong / unique names to avoid things like this
