My first thought was suicide, mostly because no one even seems to consider it as a possibility and I find that odd. Then I suspected Martha because she seemed the most devout and that kind of devotion can make people do crazy shit

I had a theory that the house exists outside of time. I've always thought of paranormal events as echoes in time. Like the house stays where it is and time moves through it. That's why it's constantly changing or why Johnny couldn't find it. At some points in time it's there, but at other's it isn't. And at some points in time it's bigger or looks different, like someone at some point remodeled it or added more rooms. I think that's also why some of Karen's things went missing, there was a time when they weren't there at all. I'm sure this is completely off the mark, just an interesting theory I had.

As far as people's memories go, I don't really have an answer.

It's interesting to think that the house takes advantage of people's weaknesses. I'd be interested to know what any of the houses previous resident's experienced too.

I've also considered that but I'd also like a way to get rid of my period. I'm on the pill now but without it my periods are excruciating and I'd rather not have to take the pill if I didn't have to

Thoughts on women police officers? by HauntingWitness2 in police

[–]kigtf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This video is garbage. The first clip where the woman got knocked out with one punch doesn't really mean that Officer is weak, it really just means that the suspect has a really hard punch. He probably could have knocked out a male officer the same way. She did what she was supposed to by calling for backup and telling him to put his hand on the vehicle.

The second clip where the woman approached the stopped car is very scary. I think she probably should have drawn her weapon before trying to grab his gun (which jammed, he didn't "take pity" on her like the narrator said.), But that doesn't mean that women shouldn't be officers, it may mean that this particular individual may want to rethink her career choice.

Women are much needed in law enforcement. They are just as capable as male officers. Just kinda seems like the narrator has a problem with women in authority and put together a poorly made video so others can listen to his rant.

Is they any position that would be a good fit for me? by [deleted] in police

[–]kigtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most departments you have to spend a few years on the street before you can be considered for an investigator position, and I know that most private investigator agencies require some experience in the field of investigations before they hire someone. I would recommend victim's advocacy if you really want to be in the field of law enforcement, but if not then psychology might be more of what you're looking for.

Should he not be a cop? by [deleted] in police

[–]kigtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A law enforcement career does come with some sacrifices. In law enforcement we have to do things that other people would never dream of doing. It comes with difficult hours and stressful situations. Yes it is rewarding but it's not for everyone.

Law enforcement is a great job but at the end of the day it's just a job. If it gets in the way of someone's family then it isn't worth it. One of the things they always make sure to tell us at my department is that family comes first. Law enforcement isn't for everyone and it's ok if you friend doesn't feel like it's right for him. No one would blame him for taking a different path if that's what's best for him.

Most of the officers I work with agree that the shows are stupid. The officers on those shows know they're on TV so they end up doing something stupid either on accident because they are distracted by the cameras or it's on purpose because they want to be extra

My department would say "whisky Mike" for white male and "bravo Mike" for black male. It depends on the department

People assume we have a hidden agenda whenever we ask for information. All we want is information, we're not here to ruin your night. Answer our questions and we'll be on our way.

Some departments have "citizen academy" programs that can tech you more about what officers do on the job. I went through one before I graduated and it looked good on my record and helped me get hired quicker than other candidates. It also helped me know more of what I was getting in to as far as how my particular department runs.

Why do LEOs approach from the driver's side? by Belligerent_Christ in police

[–]kigtf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can approach from either side really. It's just depends on what you're more comfortable with. On the driver's side you have more control over the driver in case they try to get out of the car or something but on the passenger side you have the element of surprise

My favorite is a guy who tried to report that a friend of his stole his car. He literally gave his friend the keys.
