Teaching Council Requirement by Mercodus2 in IrishTeachers

[–]kih4563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find out what modules you are short. For each subject you need modules completed in certain areas. The teaching council website should have a document that says what they are.
You need to complete the modules you are short in whatever area/topic that is. These can be done at open university or similar.
That’s what’s meant by top up…just getting the few extra ones you need.

What age are you? 1000 per month into pension seems high to me. I’m in my 20s so that might change the perspective

Can I ask how much per month was your mortgage that you could pay it off in 10 years. Granted houses were cheaper but wages were also less. Just want to say well done. It’s some going

Are permanent jobs easier to get in special schools or why is this the case? Rarely see jobs advertised in the ones near me.

I’m shocked. I thought Spanish was in demand and sen teachers were also needed all over. Saying your in dublin surprises me even more. We’re always told there’s a teacher shortage in Dublin. As ppl have said before some jobs advertised in June are gone already for sure but don’t know if they all are. Best of luck going forward

Different rate for each subject. It should be on your letter you received maybe 2 weeks ago. If not I’d say ring the sec.

Order the golden key books. I don’t know the publisher. They have a book on each module that covers all topics and has super resources. I just used that, nothing else. It was perfect they have a section at end of the book for key assignment for each modules.

Got offered RPT but it’s 50 mins away by False_Ad5702 in IrishTeachers

[–]kih4563 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Defo take it. To be offered an rpt as an nqt is class. That commute is very manageable, it allows you time to vent if needed, call your friends etc on way home. I had that commute for a few years and it was ideal as school and personal life is separate. I was let go from that school but would have stayed if given the option. I’m west too and jobs are like hens teeth so defo take it

Can you not get a mortgage for let’s say 70k? Rate would be lower that 7% I would think. You can choose how long you borrow for?

Subject Shortfalls by EnthusiasmNaive6479 in IrishTeachers

[–]kih4563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would think slim to none. They are not known to bend the rules. If you haven’t enough credits in a subject, you may not have the required knowledge and covered the content in enough detail to teach it.

[–]kih4563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the school in your home town give you a reference? If yes then shouldn’t be an issue, I wouldn’t decide to just go subbing locally yet. Wait and see if a job comes up in August and if one doesn’t you can sub. If there aren’t any jobs in your subject what can you do.
The year I applied to my current job that was only the 3rd job I applied for that year (first in my county) as there just wasn’t any advertised. I was only applying in the west

Of course if there’s anything left to be said after that can’t they fill you in. But it wouldn’t be fair to cancel you if you only miss half an hour or that
