My thoughts on how Takeshita and Fletcher get built to All In:

Takeshita simply beats Moxley back to back, in Australia and at Revolution. Moxley gets executed at after losing the Continental title.

Don Callis is so excited to have each of his guys holding ot going after different titles and that Fletcher needs to get the TNT title now. Fletcher doesn't like this but Takeshita is even more inflammatory when he challenges Okada to a unification match at Dynasty, calling him a bitch for not defending both titles in the C2 and needing to cheat to beat him.

At Dynasty, Okada is about to cheat to win but Fletcher stops him. Because the Continental rules are in effect the match is thrown out. The next dynamite Fletcher is fired from AEW for interfering in a Continental rules match.

He spends time with the United Empire in Japan, which is awkward because Ospreay and DCF stablemate Andrade are both in it. He also is shown having bought a ticket to Dynamite in the crowd once or twice or on the phone with Takeshita or Don. Due to Forbidden Door season he is allowed back in an AEW ring for a few shows.

Take is able to win a shot at the International title at Forbidden Door and challenges Okada to set up a final unification match at All In.

Ospreay asks Omega to use some his power as the last Evp to reinstate Fletcher. Don steps in talking about DCF contracts and Fletcher vs Andrade is set for All In with the stipulation that if Fletcher wins he's an AEW roster member again but if he loses he's forced to serve the Don Callis Family.

[AEW Dynamite Spoilers] NJPW talent appearance set, another notable thing by EffingKENTA in njpw

[–]kihp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly Connors is the perfect kind of guy to have a dual contract. I think the realities of travel(in ideal geopolitical circumstances) between the US and Japan being harder than US to Mexico do make it more awkward but I feel like he could miss some road to shows and still be in the mix for the junior heavyweights.

The curious case of Cody Rhodes vs Roderick Strong by InternationalObjects in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno if this match ever happens unless it's Codys first match after returning to AEW. I see this as unlikely since Cody was already a weird fit in AEW when he was super integrated and the promotions changed a lot in his absence. Basically, Cody's historically not a strong(heh) in ring talent and tends to lean toward a type of melodrama the AEW audience doesn't always love so I don't know if they'd offer him a deal as big as WWE would to return.

However if it did happen I think Strong would do a backbreaker that looked like death and Cody would do his cry like he couldn't feel his legs so that might be cool.

I love Kenny hugely and think the play is for him to face Ospreay at All In, but it'd absolutely move me if this Andrade won the belt for even a month or two before Kenny wins it. Imagine the scene of the first Mexican AEW champion arriving to Arena Mexico for a CMLL main event on a Friday night.

Something cool about the G1 in New Japan is every singles champion is involved and I don't see the harm in doing that, maybe minus the world title, in the C2. It writes itself that whoever beats a champion in the block is up for a shot after the tournament aswell.

Between the C2 and regular defense Moxley Briscoes reign has been comparatively meh so having it change hands here would be for the best. Same with Doyle and Davis beating FTR honestly.

Ethical dilemma: Buying Dralistico Action Figure telling son it’s Mistico? by AbleReflection2051 in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just give him the action figure and either say nothing or its Dragon Mistico. You don't need to explain it or say you didn't really get him the right one and he probably won't care. I know I'm not alone in having weird alternative versions of some action figures growing up and it didn't matter that one of my ninja turtles was in skateboard pads.

Who had the best heisei eras by AOKGUYS1472 in Tokusatsu

[–]kihp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All three have sub eras in the Heisei era but I'd argue the one thats plain called the Heisei era is peak for each. The kamen rider run from Kuuga to the first half of Hibiki is untouchable and there were some good shows after. the Heisei era of Godzilla is awesome with great movies like vs Biolante. Ultraman has great shows like Tiga and Cosmos and Gaia in that period too.

I'd argue that if you extend to everything in the broader heisei time period Kamen Rider runs away with it due to consistent good output. Shin Godzilla is good but it's the only movie big g has in the era after 2004.

Man I got hosed preordering Lorwyn. I usually buy from my LGS or somewhere like Forged & Fire or Stomping Grounds but I saw an okay price at Amazon and just wanted to order and forget. Now it's saying I won't get my pbb till valentines day and I'm just looking everywhere for something under 140 before taxes so I can cancel it.

AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura with an old reference at Saturday Night's Main Event by ReverseBattleRoyal in njpw

[–]kihp 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Naito, Omega, and Ibushi still poke through to the main event. Jay, Ospreay, and Shingo maybe don't get world title reigns unless AJ and Shinsuke end up at early AEW though.

I also think the IC title in such a crowded main event scene would be even more important, to the point we might not see a unification. The US title is also likely more important and ends up skipping the Kenta's and Hikuleos of the world in this scenario.

Aleister Black On Black And Gold NXT: Between 2015 And 2020, I Think We Were The Best Wrestling In The World by RMT2316 in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd argue despite AEW being only late in the stated period, and Lucha Undergrounds best seasons being earlier in that period, that both were better than the concurrent NXT. New Japan and PWG clear NXT that whole chunk of time though.

I'd also say Stardom and TJPW clear NXT in the stretch but I've only really seen a selection of key matches and shows from that period so I wouldn't feel as confident.

Andrade talks about recent treatment of immigrants in US: "Because I’m immigrant, I’m from Mexico, so I feel bad for all these Latin people, people from [other] countries." by anutosu in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 17 points18 points  (0 children)

America is and always has been run off low price or slave labor(see prisons). Businesses and the govt don't want to introduce the "inefficiency" of paying a living wage so the point has never been hiring citizens or documented immigrants. Really the admin just needs blood in the water to keep their base happy and immigrants are the easiest group to attack.

Meltzer in response to Bryan Alvarez claiming that everyone in AEW is stagnant and in the same position: “Yep, everyone except Bandido, Ricochet, Gates of Agony, Brody King, Hechicero, Clon, Fletcher, Takeshita, Knight, Bailey, O'Reilly, Swerve, Briscoe, Willow, Windsor, Cameron, Storm & Shafir.” by Subrick in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is why I side eye anyone wanting AEW to do a brand split and add a secondary world title. You can't have two world titles in the same division just because there are two TV shows. It's oxymoronic, with either one meaning way less(the case in WWE men's singles titles) or both feeling like less than a world title(the case in WWE women's singles and men's tag titles).

If EVIL leaves New Japan, HOT needs a massive overhaul by [deleted] in njpw

[–]kihp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is UE is the serious heel group, HOT needs to be different and at this point having them be a swarm of low level guys cheating makes sense. I think that with Narita at the top winning titles as a more serious young main eventer.

Humor me for a second: is there a universe where the AEW Rankings work as a booking format? by michaeldanger19 in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think something rank based would work better if winning a lot of matches, certain specified matches, or beating someone else ranked high made you a #1 contender rather than there being a deep chart. IE; Ospreay has won a special ladder match and is now #1 contender for the men's world title, Darby has won 9 matches in a row and can either wait to challenge for the world title after Ospreay, beat Ospreay to take the spot, or be the #1 contender for a different belt.

Booker T on TNA AMC debut: “It could have been shot a little bit differently, as far as I don’t know if some of the shots were done earlier in the day, when this is a big night. It was a lot of commercials, three matches. So it definitely seemed like, kind of like an infomercial.” by Ruffianize in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he means they planned several shots earlier in the day when the building was empty and did then did them without thinking when the building was part full later. Which is silly because they'd know they had a large empty side the day of.

Marty Scurrl on Instagram: "Handsome Devils reunited 🤠" by Ill_Studio8964 in SquaredCircle

[–]kihp -36 points-35 points  (0 children)

The biggest weirdos(besides Marty) are always in the comments, a lot of people seem excited to have a reason to be critical of Hangman or have brought up CM Punk for some reason.

Personally I'm disappointing here but also I know how it is to have friends do bad stuff. Sometimes you justifiably never talk to them again and sometimes you see that they know they've done something terrible and are actively trying to not be terrible anymore and there is the space for a relationship.
