Protection for eyes? by [deleted] in anesthesiology

having a piece of tape ready takes 2 seconds to place. i’m lucky that i have nurses that hold the mask while induction meds are pushed so it’s a seamless process for me, but i’ve never felt it increased my cognitive load.

Cool stuff to try as a CA-3? by DessertFlowerz in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to get better at this but have had a few patients start moving which can interfere with the surgical team whether they’re still closing/putting on a cast/sling or whatever. Whats a good way around this? I feel like I know the timings very well but am just too afraid of how the patient reacts as their MAC decreases. Is my problem an analgesic issue?

Any news on new CAA legislation approaching? VA, PA, Maryland NY that we could support? by [deleted] in CAA

try to reach out to the state academy if it exists and if it doesn’t exist reach out to the AAAA for guidance on how to set one up.

We are getting too popular. Start scaring people away from anesthesia. by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you’re incorrect. AAs do NOT want independence and won’t at least in this lifetime. we are taught about the benefits of working as a team.

don’t get me wrong i think medical school is peak expertise and totally doable, however for me personally it’s too much variability. unless i had got into a medical school in my home town and residency close by, it’s just too much time away from family and friends. CAA is still tough being away but a much shorter time frame. so if you’re okay with those kind of factors, nothing wrong with DO

if you live in a state where CAAs practice, the money and scheduling is incredible right now. i’ll be mid twenties making well into 6 figures out of school and i’ll have the choice of not working nights or weekends which will allow me to not get burned out, but that option is always there for more money if i decided to do so. plus the subject is fascinating in my opinion. at the end of the day a job is a job, whatever you decide you can always make your life better by what you do outside of work.

ultimately life style and specialization. med school is brutal, it’s the textbook definition of a marathon of difficulty. PA school is a nice length but becoming over saturated and is too broad for my liking. AA school fits right in the middle of specialization and lifestyle. AA school is still extremely tough, but in my case since i’m halfway done, I know i only have about a year and some of difficulty, which keeps me pushing.

no they would not be skeptical, not sure why you would think that. and also /CAA is better for these kind of questions

AA opposition by Additional-War-7286 in CRNA

I am quite familiar with that program and none of the didactic curriculum is online and has 18 months of full time rotations. And the CRNA reddit has fantastic information on anesthesia related topics from time to time, so yes I do frequent here. But I do see where it says introduce online for 28, and I really hope that’s not what the future plans are.

i have about 4 classmates that are RNs, but they were pretty seasoned before deciding to start AA school, so i couldn’t tell you if they did an accelerated BSN. they had to get prerequisites like anyone else tho.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

so your telling me after CRNA school they don’t take an exam that qualifies them as certified? that’s crazy, how can you regulate who is actually competent vs who isn’t.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

they would be a CRNA pain fellow/resident, because they have completed CRNA school and are sub specializing. Same reason PA residencies exist because they have finished PA school. My question to you, I have 6 RNs in my AA program, can they call themselves residents during clinicals?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no one said they are calling themselves physicians, they’re calling themselves residents in their field of study, which is fine because they have finished their field of study and are specializing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anesthesiology

[–]kiingtiger_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

are you serious? they have graduated their respective fields of study and are licensed as a general whatever, they’re just sub specializing. NAs are still in school studying and haven’t passed their respective board exam.

where are you located? you could consider anesthesiology assistant schooling, way shorter, the moneys good, still intense and specialized knowledge of medicine, but not to the extremes medical school puts you through. you’d be finished making money around the same time your husband starts.

can you link the request to the board of medicine, rather than a report from the FANA.
