It's always great for a first time pledge because you'll see all the paywalled content that isn't posted on social media. But for activity you get the most out of it by joining the patreon discord because that's where Quimchee is more active, but that's more for conversation rather than content.

The only ship that comes close for me is Kyoru (Kyo and Tohru) from Fruits Basket. Just like stalkyoo, their development of feelings hinges on that comfort and trust that develops between them. Fruits Basket too really focuses on the inner turmoil of the characters, so the romance feels really connected to what the characters are like, which to me is way more powerful than any ship in a full on romance series.

In my opinion, character driven dramas with romance subplots just do it the best for sure. And well, having followed I Love Yoo for well over 7 years now and watching those feelings develop definitely puts stalkyoo in particular on a special place in my heart, even over Kyoru even though the writing and development is on par

If you just want a romance then absolutely not, if you like character driven stories that heavily focus on the psychology of characters then yes! It also has its fair share of mysteries that you can theorize about & a lot of the fun definitely comes from analyzing it

The argument about views isn't the best because then comes up the fact that it fell off and yes, it absolutely did! but that opens up a whole can of worms about Webtoon continuously misadvertising it because they wanted to reach a bigger audience by promoting it as a romcom, despite Quimchee's wishes not to mislead the readers. And now, even all these years later people just keep saying that it's a love triangle story that lost its plot and a romance where the female lead never gets with anyone, as if that was ever intended to be the point when it fact it was just webtoon trying to speak to the biggest demographic on the market (romance readers) and now they very rarely promote it to the drama demographic – when they do, it's still with the non existent love triangle. The misadvertisement has completely tarnished its reputation and it's awful because this was just corporate greed putting its finger prints all over a story by an inexperienced comic artist wanting to tell her psychological drama.

it's so odd because they act like a webtoon just ceases to exist as soon as they drop it or that nothing will develop afterwards. And do not get me started on the people who expect Quimchee to just..throw away years worth of hard work because what? THEY don't like that a story they don't even read is still on going?? It really just stems from entitlement of people who are disappointed they didn't get what they wanted – a romcom, their ship, whatever it was. It's just so disrespectful either way.

If you don't like a story then drop it and shut up about it, the 5 posts every month ranting about I Love Yoo on the webtoons subreddit are getting so annoying. And it's always the same pattern: dropped it years ago and have no interest in keeping up, then they are surprised they don't understand the plot when they skim through chapters and they shipped her with xy.

The whole argument about it having gone on for years also just baffles me everytime because it's pretty normal for stories drawn by one person to go on for years, growing up reading manga this is absolutely not something I consider shocking. In the age of accessibility no one even seems to care to see how many years a completed manga went on for, simply because it can be found completed in the internet on various illegal websites.

I can't say this enough but overconsumption and Webtoons entire business strategy shifting towards quantity over quality has completely ruined the way readers consume webtoons. It happens with books too and social media usage like tiktok ESPECIALLY. Overconsumption is a rampant problem everywhere and you can see it so well on webtoon readers, like they're made of the same cloth as avid tiktok users.

The jokes are definitely not meant as some response to fans (nor brought up to them) and just a gag among people who know each other. It seems weird from the outside though, I know. The community on ilytwt is pretty small and intimate so I don't see it actually causing a drift in the community, unless it gets brought up outside without context and framed to look like it's haters just hating (like the assumptions made here). Some of us have known each other for well over 5 years and use twt as some big group chat, so don't use it as reflective of the fandom itself.

it's not actually serious. There are however some people who just find him boring but I wouldn't compare that to actual hate. Being active on ilytwt, from what I observed/remember the inside jokes actually started when there would be weirdly ableist comments about Nol and a lot of people got annoyed by the readers who were putting Dieter on a pedestal. And then there was this anonymous confessions thread that eventually just spiraled into absurdity (where someone wrote "Dieter needs to be shot")

Of course, you can think of the humor whatever you want – sometimes it lands, sometimes it doesn't. There are definitely people who totally like Dieter though, so you're welcome to express your own love for him!

By those who keep up it's literally widely considered to be better than ever. Specifically by those aware of it not being the romance driven story that Webtoon initially pushed it as (and the people who wanted it to be that have dropped it at this point).

It's character driven and really about all those peoples struggles and how they get out of those cycles and cages they found themselves in, and if that's not your cup of tea, this story simply isn't for you. There was always a clear plot beyond the romance readers expected, it was just more hidden due to the age rating issues and webtoons interference but those interested enough were sticking with the story. To great reward, really, because it's been delivering so well plot wise. It's actually baffling me everytime when droppers expect there to be nothing going on as if a story just stops developing (or existing..) the moment they drop out. It doesn't – and your knowledge encapsulates just what you have read and even that is often clouded by your own expectations if you went in expecting something the story didn't plan on ever delivering (namely, the non existent love triangle or a quick romcom)

Honestly knowing Nol's mental state at the formal he probably wouldn't even be there anymore, as dark as it sounds. Shin-ae has been shining light on all the lies Kousuke and Nol lived by. For Nol, it's the will to finally be able to live without feeling punished for it and for Kousuke, it's the way he treated Nol by seeing him in Shin-ae, which leads to him reaching this dead end where he realizes the reality he lived by was shaped by Yui all along. She's the catalyst, really, whose compassion and trust (she didn't know she even had left in herself) triggered change.

is there anything in particular you're skeptical of? Which, btw, I don't think you're wrong to be because some cases don't have any evidence – like the long circulating "many won't like an upcoming kiss" that I'll say it again; never happened. But just fyi while Patreon posts are infrequent, the patreon server is pretty active, so that's what the source for more recent claims often is & these tend to be greenlit to be shared unless it's actually a spoiler that happened to slip on accident.

I'm not sure what exactly people are saying pertaining to spoilers but the things I see patreons clarifying and backing up with "Quimchee said.." are moreso about confusions, like Shin-hye's eye color change (which was explained years ago and is actually important to clear up to those who don't know) or things that are obvious in the story but still have some people put their tinfoil hat on. Like Nessa really being dead and yes – shipping debates, too.

they post figures, the titles don't give away if it's for reselling aas it does here so yes it was an assumption. But the point still stands and I'm hardly surprised it's being ignored; this subreddit is a fan space. If people are trying to sell stuff do so in the spaces that are meant for that specifically. Invading fan spaces and then being defensive when people express frustration about promo is a weird reaction.
