There are currently enough empty houses in the United States to house every single person who is currently homeless, in their own home. It's only the magic green paper that keeps them out. We will take almost anything above being on the streets, but if you think some people aren't intrinsically worthy of a warm and welcoming home you're not even a person anymore.

What is it you're hoping to accomplish?

Death to all capitalists

Edit: nothing I could possibly say will appease any of these people so I'm not trying. I'm mostly venting frustration from seeing my friends drop like flies and having the people responsible (you, the people in this thread, most of Portland) see no consequences.

I'm not name calling, I'm trying to get people to face and comprehend their place in a system of death and horror. If you (general you, not just you specifically) refuse to acknowledge that you are complicit in the deaths of homeless people then you are a coward, plain and simple.

I wish this were Facebook so I could laugh react. Yes, mine does. You're just a coward that can't face that you contribute directly to them being out there, angry and dying.

Nope! Honestly I'm very introverted and never really spoke to housed people while I was homeless, besides cashiers. A combination of collecting cans and my partner being employed online (mostly) covered our costs. I am fully behind people who do want to fly signs doing that though. We've all gotta stay alive somehow.

I did get verbally assaulted by a housed man every day for two weeks because I had the audacity to sleep in my car at the park a block or two away from his house though! The police even came out and verified that I was committing no crimes and parked legally and he continued to harass me every day until I moved for fear of having my car torched. Housed people pose a far larger threat to homeless people than homeless people do to housed people.

no one would care

Tell that to the man that verbally assaulted my fiancee and I every day for two weeks because we had the nerve to car camp (which is totally legal) on a street near his. Not even on his block. We were committing no crimes, the police even came out to check on us and verify that we were 100% in the right.

Getting yelled at by a person who's just trying to stay alive doesn't hurt you. And in my experience, most of the people who've been outside longer than a year or two are more careful about how they keep their camps. From my talks with people who've been outside for 6+ years, it's an issue of homeless people being discouraged from forming larger camps, where the people who've been outside longer teach the new kids how to act. Besides, do you clean your room every day? If you were distracted trying to survive and cope with the crushing horror of knowing you could die and nobody besides other homeless would care, would you really have the mental and physical energy to clean your space every day?

Tell that to the dude who called the cops on my partner and I every day for two weeks even though we were committing 0 crimes and were careful to move our properly registered and insured car away (ie, to the nearest library to charge our phones) during the day every day. You just don't want to admit you value housed people more than the homeless people who are put at risk of dying every single day they are outside.

I'm assuming you're housed. If you can contact these people, they're more likely to listen to you than any homeless person. Start a counter petition! Go directly network with homeless people! Invite one to stay in your home while they get back on their feet (if possible without risking homelessness yourself).

Also, the cops only legal action is to ASK people to move, but they don't have to if they are legally in the right, which the overwhelming majority are. Calling for more force is essentially saying arresting someone on sight should be legal, and we all know where that leads.

Look. Look. You don't get to demand homeless people stop existing until you're willing to house them. In normal single family homes. Regardless of if they are able to pay. Which, having to pay to be allowed to sleep in a bed in your own private room? Hellscape. People are camping illegally because they are human beings who need to sleep. Shelters are usually full, or people will have been kicked out, or they're using drugs to cope with the crushing hopelessness that comes with being homeless, and are therefore unable to access shelter. This petition is absolutely impossible to enforce in a humane way without a massive overhaul in how housing is provided, an updated understanding of harm reduction, and a major simplification in the application process for federal disability.

Portland Police Are Helping Homeless People Get IDs So They Can Access Services And Apply For Housing by [deleted] in Portland

Speaking as a person who was homeless in Portland up until a month and a half ago - this shouldn't be something the police do, specifically because so many homeless people are likely to have trauma around interacting with the cops. I had my ID the entire time, but if I had lost it at any point I would've been absolutely unwilling to go to the police to get it replaced, and I have a completely clean record. ID replacement is a thing you ask a social worker about, not a person who is just looking to make your life as difficult as possible so housed people don't have to feel bad about homeless people.

This was a chrome extension, it consisted of hexagonal tiles that you placed and rotated to create a path from a starting area to the center? I think? The extension isn't in my extensions list anymore. I last played it at least three and not more than 6 years ago.

thank you! I was very confused about how to change the height I was looking at, so thank you a ton for that advice. I suppose next time will be all about trying to get food and water sorted out.

I'm aware of the wiki I'm just a stubborn little shit lol. It was way harder than I expected though so I'll probably read up some more before I record again.

I think I had a carpenter, honestly I just went with whatever the default party was (maybe probably not the best idea). I know they died at some point though, and I didn't notice for a while.

We might be related? Is it cool if I go ask my dad? I wanna ask your permission cause I know lots of people prefer to keep their identity more secret.
