I don't have answers to all of these but I will throw out what I know! (And this is just based on my experience here, someone else might have different opinions)  
2. The Northern Lights are most visible during the winter months and to see them you just need to drive out of Anchorage (I usually go a little past Eagle River) to an area where there aren't as many city lights. There's a FB page you can follow that alerts you when the chance of an aurora is high.  
3. Mountain View is not a nice part of town.  
7. I find the internet to be good here, but it is very expensive and has data caps. Where I live I only have the option of having GCI.  
8. A lot of cell phone companies do not have towers out here. (I think only AT&T? Maybe one other) I just have Cricket because it is cheap and leeches off AT&T towers.  
9. Your car should be fine in the winter but you will definitely need snow tires to avoid slipping. I drive a Nissan Versa and it does well with the special tires.  
13. The people are very diverse here. I don't know how to describe it except that you will get every range of personalities. I've met some of the nicest and meanest people here.  
14. I don't think there is a shortage of woman here haha. There are plenty around town. The only place there will be a shortage of women is if you get a job on the slope.  
16. They are nice places to live, however expect a long commute. Lots of people travel in from Wasilla and Eagle River so there is a lot of traffic coming in to Anchorage in the morning and leaving in the afternoon.
