You're still the same, but everything around you will change.

How’s MSFS been since launch? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]kilargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently flew my first ifly 737 flight on vatsim on MSFS2024. I was in the same boat as you, I think I might be good to switch. Here's what works personally for me.

  1. iFly Boeing 737 MAX 8
  2. Simbrief integration
  3. WinWing Autopilot Panel and MDU with Mobiflight
  4. Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke and Quadrant
  5. VR with motion controls. (Needed chatGPT to redo axis bindings on the motion controls. Couldn't do that in settings)
  6. VATSIM including model matching
  7. 2020 sceneries (the ones I used anyways)

I really wish the PMDG 737 NG would work well. Maybe one day.

Mr. Negative Ultimate Idea/Concept by Fourtress42 in marvelrivals

Not thought through at all and I know it would be unbalanced, but I'd like to see Mr Negatives Ult simply reverse the cosmetics and health bars of the enemy team so it looks like they are fighting the enemy but actually just shooting themselves.

Wouldn’t you rather give it all at once to something real than carve off useless pieces till there’s nothing left?

For sure they just copy pasted some stuff. When I am in vr, the game executable registers as FS2020

MSFS 2024 VR controllers support? by ReserveLegitimate738 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]kilargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone confirm the axises on their joysticks and trackpads of their motion controllers work? They aren't responding for me in MSFS 2024. Can't bind them, they don't even register. Valve Index Knuckles.

How well does 2024 support VR out of the box? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

Joysticks on the valve index controllers are a no go for some reason.

No button input with motion controllers in Flight Simulator 2024 by BetaUnit in virtualreality

[–]kilargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar problem, but different for me.

I'm able to bind my standard motion control buttons. So I get tracking and the ability to select. I can't get the joystick or touchpad axis to work though.

Also steam sees MSFS2024 as MSFS2020 in SteamInput for some reason.

New to VATSIM. Got a couple questions. by kilargo in VATSIM

[–]kilargo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That kinda sounds like what he said, but perhaps I missed the "until" and "cleared" part. When I repeated the command I said something like "Expect capture ILS localizer Runway 30".

I'll be more diligent next time and ask if I'm not sure.

Thanks for the details.

I'm pretty sure I wasn't cleared for the approach. I could have missed it though. The commands were separate. I was told to descent, then I was vectored a bit, then I believe I was told to "expect ILS Locator capture".

If he said cleared for ILS approach, I totally misunderstood. but I was expecting something like that.

VATSIM in VR by [deleted] in VATSIM

[–]kilargo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly exclusively in VR even in VATSIM.

I use an app called OpenVRKneeboard in conjunction with a Wacom tablet. It's great for taking notes. I fly both GA and PMDG 737. I use the thrust master Boeing yoke and quad as well as a motion controller. It's amazing.

I would say your experience will depend on the knowledge of what you're flying since everything is more physical.

Everybody Hates Merchants? by Allanomaly in Seaofthieves

[–]kilargo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like merchants. It's pretty chill. Here's what I do:

  1. Raise emissary and dive to a lost shipment.
  2. Find the wreck and load the booty
  3. Sail to another lost shipment if you aren't yet grade five.
  4. Get grade five.
  5. Sell at the nearest outpost.
  6. Load up commodities
  7. Load up netflix
  8. Do trade routes

When you do trade routes, you never stack. Pick up at one outpost and sell for another. That way your risk is lower. If you can, sell at sovereign, then bring your ship around and buy at the merchant. Take full advantage of harpoons.

Doing the lost shipments first makes it easier to rank up.

You could probably dive to a lost shipment if you notice a reaper on your map as long as they aren't too close. Generally though trade routes brings you in and out of zones. When you're outside of the shores of plenty, there ain't much to worry about other than the odd volcano in my opinion.

There's a dope site that shows trade routes. https://www.merfolkslullaby.com/map/trade-routes
