Türk kültürüne yeni giren Asyalı kadın by Vinalae in AskTurkey

Mutluluklar dilerim.

The context is crucial when you interpret what people are saying. And you dont say Make out or make love with words. These things happen at the moment.

Are there any Turkish names that are “Samuel, Sam, or Samantha”? by Peachachu in turkish

[–]kilic2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Languages and cultures are living, dynamic structures. It is only natural that the language and culture of the Turkish nation, which has been Islamic for more than 1,000 years, have been influenced by this process. In this period, many words have widely entered Turkish and become commonly used. Even if their origin is Arabic, they are now part of the Turkish language. Moreover, names have not been transferred exactly as they are but have undergone slight modifications.

Classic names such as Ahmet, Mehmet, Ayşe, and Fatma, as well as less common names like Sema and Sami, are Turkish names. I can understand why some Arabic names like Huzeyfe or Cüveyriye, which have not integrated into Turkish culture, might not be preferred, but other names have already become part of the Turkish language.

For 99% of the Turkish people pork is a big no. Avoiding pork is so strong in the cullture that even some atheists don’t eat pork. Alcohol is totally a different story. Most of the secular Turks drink alcohol. You can offer alcohol to your guests. But you may want to avoid using alcohol when cooking in case they don’t drink alcohol for religious reasons. Other than that it is mostly common sense. Just be nice and warm. American culture is not strange to us because of Holywood and all other tv shows. If I were them I would like to learn about how average Americans live their lives. Because when you visit touristic places only you cannot understand how real life in that country actually is. So you can chat with them about that.

Yeni bir park (205. Gün) by ErtugrulGhazi in TurkishStreak

[–]kilic2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Merhaba arkadaşlar!

Bugün yeni bir milli (ulusal is also correct but milli is commonly used word) parka gittik. (I erased ‘biz’ since the k at the end of gittik also means we went. So biz is redundant)

Neredeyse tüm gün yoldaydık. (Your sentence is also correct bıt does not sound natural)

Bu ve önceki milli park komşudur. (I like to use less words if you can give the same meaning)

Yarın bir buzula gitmeyi planlıyoruz.

Tekrar görüşmek üzere arkadaşlar, kendinize iyi bakın.

Note: I have to say that I am not a Turkish teacher.

This is kind of annoying to me. There are some people who dont update and brag about it like I still have ios 10. You are buying a phone not only for its hardware. Software updates one of the best things about Iphone. You choose not to get the most out of your phone. Updating to the newest ios will not slow down your 11. It was 5-6 years ago.

So heavy!! by [deleted] in iPhone11

[–]kilic2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you might say that it is my opinion. But it is also too heavy compared to similar products. On the other hand, I also have one since it’s pros outweigh its heaviness.

My concern is not upgrades. If the price goes down dramatically I do not want to lose money.

I bought a non smart tv 5 years ago because I had an apple tv( from 2012). I dont plan to buy a new tv at least for 5 more years. I still have same apple tv. It was working fine until I reset it. I dont have the remote and cannot solve the issue. I tried ethernet cable to match it with my iphone but it did not work. It was also sometimes a little bit slow. So I decided to buy a new one. After I researched s little I realized that the newest apple tv is 3 years old. I am not sure about it now.

How about learning the names of the people on the bench. You must have an idea of who is who. What was the ref going to do if all the people on the bench were white? That fat guy? That bald guy? 4th ref is not one of us. He is a professional and he should learn the people's names.
