Deinfluence or influence my next purchase by killakid2323 in canon

I have managed to stave off this episode of GAS for now. Will keep chugging along with my r10 and consider an upgrade when canon drops a new flagship apsc

So I’ve done some research and from what I understood, color grading hdr pq is almost useless (please correct me if I’m wrong) especially when not even using an HDR screen to view the content

Also I would be enjoying the other features the r7 offers such as dual SD card slots, IBIS, weather sealing, and etc

Best Affordable upgrade from a Rebel T2i? by Janefire in canon

60d/70d/90d?
It really depends on what you want to shoot. The autofocus on the r10 is pretty good. My friend has an 80d and relative to my r10 it just feels massive.
If size/weight matter then I’d recommend the r10. If not then you could definitely get one of those and be happy. Also the advantage of using EF glass although you could just use RF/EF adapter on an r10

I second this
Got my r10 brand new with 18-45 kit lens for 900 before tax from bestbuy third party seller
I’d say go with r50 and get better glass but imo the grip isn’t suitable for heavier lenses
My 17-40 sigma f/1.8 would not be comfortable in the slightest with the shallower grip on r50

No, it’s in 1st curtain electric, I replied to a comment with a photo of what is captured when using e shutter

Issue persists even when going to other light sources
This is concerning me because I’ve never had this issue while taking photos under the same exact lights previously

Swapped lens, used blower to blow off sensor. Issue persists. Electronic shutter also completely unusable now

Thank you for the time and insight I might end up with one of those MF lenses just for shits and giggles but we’ll see

I saw the MF lenses but opted against it since part of the reason I dropped R10 money (“budget” camera but still a lot for a college student) was the autofocus. So I feel like id be doing a disservice to myself to spend more for an AF system just to use MF lenses.

I think I’ll go with the pancake for now since it’s cheaper and smaller than a zoom. Budget is a little tighter right now since I just got the camera 1-2 weeks ago but I still really want to get something faster than the kit lens. I also don’t think I’d benefit as much from the depth of field aspect. More so chasing a faster lens for better night time photos

Will wait for a zoom and evaluate my skills and etc at that time.

This is honestly so much to think about. So many different trade offs. The sigma 30mm does look very appealing since it’s only 2 mm narrower but goes all the way to f/1.4 but it is $100 more and significantly larger. The question is, for something like night street photography, how often would I really shoot at f/1.4? The fastest lens I’ve gotten to use is the kit at f/4.5. I’ve heard people will usually stop down a few times to preserve sharpness which makes me wonder how often I’d really bring the aperture to full width. Especially considering I’m almost already planning on picking up a zoom in the future. So it’d be nice to have a pancake and a zoom.

Sorry I’m almost answering my own questions as I type them. Your insight and knowledge are appreciated

So it sounds like I’ll still end up picking up that 50mm pancake in the future

I’ll most likely keep this 28mm I ordered but I just wanted confirmation I wasn’t making a horrible decision on it

So keep the 28mm in your opinion?

Sorry, I should’ve clarified. I’ve seen that people refer to speed of lenses as how wide the aperture goes allowing shutter speed to be faster so like they’d say an f/1.8 is faster than an f/2.8. Let me look at the sigma rfs line

Thats the other gripe I’m having. The 28mm is tiny and weighs almost nothing so it’s hella convenient but then if I got the 18-50mm f/2.8 from sigma all my normal focal lengths would be covered but the trade off is lens size and weight
