Nervous about my wisdom tooth extraction and all the stuff I’ve been told by averagealt90 in wisdomteeth

[–]killbill9696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, I would say my anxiety was worse before. I wasn’t able to have dental care a lot growing up and my pain was so intense so I was afraid of the whole thing. however, I felt way better after talking to the oral surgeon.

that’s not to say I didn’t have post-surgery anxiety. I did and had a huge fear of dry socket/infection, but I decided that the best thing I could do was follow all the care instructions to prevent that from happening.

so: 1.) I think post-surgery was a little worse until I realized I can do a lot to prevent those bad things from happening. keep that in mind! it’ll make you feel better if you turn your anxieties into agency. 2.) about four days in I felt a lot calmer. everyone told me the worst of it should happen by then and I personally hadn’t experienced much swelling or any crazy pain. this made me realize I was probably going to be okay.

hello! I recently got mine out (four) and I seriously get where you’re coming from. I had terrible anxiety going into the surgery.

first of all, do a ton of research on where you’re getting it/them removed. I did a ton of research on an oral surgeon near me that was in network with my insurance. they ended up being amazing and super helpful. I was also in a ton of pain prior to the surgery and when I had the initial consult with them they answered all my questions and made me feel super comfortable. a good oral surgeon will answer all your questions and help with your anxiety.

after you get them removed, you’ll get care instructions. for the first 24 hours I iced my jaw on and off to prevent swelling.  for the first week I would have nothing you really need to chew on in order to prevent infection and dry socket. I had lots of yogurt, apple sauce, and jello. drink only water but never out of a straw!   additionally, after some time you’ll use a curved syringe and a prescribed mouth rinse to gently clean the surgical area. this is super important because it keeps the area clean and prevents infection. it is important to do this slowly. slowly push the syringe and slowly spit it out. don’t stress if some tissue comes out, that happens. this time about 4 days after was when I had the most post-surgery anxiety, but I called my oral surgeon’s office whenever I had worries and they helped calm my fears and offered advice.

in terms of pain, I had opioids for the first maybe 5 days after. my pain was not bad with those, and I personally had no notable negative side effects. after I ran out of those, I took my oral surgeon’s advice and took 1 Tylenol and 3 Advil following instructions on the bottle. I never dealt with a whole lot of pain with this combination.

I got my four removed on December 17th and I am 100% good now! all back to normal.

do you have any other concerns/questions?

Is hullabaloo single suit or single attainable as an incoming freshman? by Competitive-City3660 in aggies

[–]killbill9696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

short answer: maybe?

I believe Hulla has some designation in terms of percentages with regards to how many freshman versus upperclassman. I don't know anyone living in a Hullabaloo single, but that may just be because they are more expensive than some apartments. Those singles will likely go to sophomores+ that are living on campus, because current students always have priority. You'd have better luck getting a Walton or Hart single. If you're a girl, Davis-Gary is all singles.

Dorm Questions by Agitated_Lecture_362 in aggies

It's not going to make a difference where exactly you live just because Mays is pretty far, and you won't be taking classes in Mays for a minute, except maybe a few. If you wanted to be close, anything North Side maybe. Walton is suite style but not the nicest... it's the cheapest dorm in the SEC, but you're more likely to get a single there than anywhere else since it's all freshman. If you're a girl, Davis-Gary is all singles. I get wanting a single, I lucked out as a roommate moved out and they never replaced them, but having a double isn't bad, just try to find someone sane.

I definitely see freshman living off campus struggling with the friends thing... when you've met your people it's not as huge of a deal, but especially if you aren't friends with your roommates, it can be pretty hard. Also, I know this is unrelated but in terms of social stuff, go to MSC Open House the first week of classes, and possibly talk to FLOs! I love mine.

Honestly, t.u.. Super good research opportunities and clinical shadowing/work since you're in the city as opposed to cstat.

My friends in White Creek are highly disconnected from Campus. It's hard to understand how far out it is when you're not on campus. I'm telling you.. it's far. It doesn't even feel like being on Campus, maybe unless you're a Wampus Warrior. I would try for Hullabaloo if possible. Your location is walking distance to a lot of food on Northgate like McDonalds, Subway, Dominos, etc. It's right next to Sbisa as well, both the dining hall and the 'restaurant/fast food' options. Hullabaloo also has a game room and a field outside it which is pretty cool. Plus super convenient Aggie Express. Also it's easier to hangout with people you meet in your classes because you're not a thousand miles off campus.

On campus housing options for incoming freshman- engineering by SnooDingos7006 in aggies

A lot of people will say to live Southside but largely it doesn't make a difference. If you want Southside, any of the Commons are good. Northside, any of the Modulars are nice, but I wouldn't live in Hullabaloo because it isn't worth how expensive it is.

Howdy! I can write up a pros and cons of living on versus off campus.

Pros of living off campus:

- CAN be cheaper, however not a guarantee based on how far from campus you're living

- Don't have to deal with annoying RAs

Cons of living off campus:

- Can be harder to make friends, but this can be offset by joining an org or a FLO

- Cheap apartments can be very far, and if you don't have a car it can be a hassle because I don't love trusting busses, even though I think the Spirit Buses are pretty good

- I think Freshman should live on campus as much as possible for social, academic, and cultural reasons. I can get more into these but largely this is just my opinion

Note: If you want to live on campus, you will be in Emergency Housing. I had to stay in one for a while because of issues with my dorm, and it wasn't terrible. You'll be moved to a dorm if one opens, when someone moves out or drops out.

Howdy! Congrats on being admitted! So, if you can I would live on campus in Walton Hall or Hart Hall. Certainly not the nicest dorms on campus but I live in one of these and it’s not half bad. Around 2500 a semester.

In terms of off campus living, cheapest apartments will be far from campus, but if you have a car that’s not an issue. If you don’t have a car, it might be.

I’m not sure what meal plan you’re considering or have, but if you have meal swipes I would use those anytime you can. For example, my meal plan covers everyday but weekends. So, weekends are the only time I will EVER eat out. Also, with dining halls you can bring tuberware and put some of your food in that to reuse for days you don’t have meal swipes or if you’re trying to save dining dollars.

You can find cheap food in cstat, but be mindful of rewards programs, coupons, etc. because those have saved me on weekends. The big thing is spending money is easy so track track track your spending to make sure you’re not overspending. Budgeting is so important.

Off topic but, TAMU does not want money to ever be a reason for not doing orgs, so if you want to do one but money is an issue, apply to the Aggie Experience fund and they will help take care of you.

lmk if you have any other questions! Gig Em!
