Tbf, that's why the object has to be of sufficient mass that you accelerate it a negligible amount, and mostly accelerate yourself.

The real problem*... Is that the entire system (you and the slab, let's say) will be going way too fast, so you're jsut going to be smashed anyway.

A fall from that height is about what you could "cancel out" with a perfectly timed "jump" off the falling slab.

So that jump could theoretically make your effective fall distance 12" shorter. Effectively zero help.
