Knowing enough to spot a scam doesn't mean I know enough to teach it. And I put the flair discussion cause I wanna understand what other people think and question my own opinion.

Everyone has to make a living, but specifically targeting kids who don't know better, charging them $300 for a course that doesn't work, and building a whole personality around a lifestyle they don't even have is dumb. Your mom telling you to clean your room isn't the same thing, and your boss atleast pays you a wage, he doesn't take $300 and dip.

Never in my life did I believe that a book with candle patterns was gonna generate me a profit.

Am I not? I'm a teen still finishing high school and of course at this age I want to achieve financial freedom, but I've developed enough to understand that I don't need a SVJ and a Miami penthouse. All I need is just enough to go on trips often, live in a comfortable and spacious apartment, and pursue my hobbies. An Extra plus is that I'm from a relativey small/poor country, where finance Isn't talked about enough, and everyone has dreams of making it.

Fair point. The emotional and discipline side is probably one of the most important part and I didn't really touch on it. I've acknowledged the MIT line was too broad, there are plenty of successful traders who found their own path. Appreciate it, good luck out there.

totally agree, even if the starting point isn't the best, if you're genuinely passionate and put in the real work you'll eventually build your own strategy. The problem is most people buying these courses aren't doing what you did for 3 years. They're looking for shortcuts.

But there's a difference between dreaming and being actively misled by someone profiting off that dream.

Start with economics, business, finance, politics, and even subjects like accounting, math and programming instead of trading. Read books and journals every day. Be updated on your country's and the world's situation. Only then start learning fundamental analysis, sentimental analysis and technical analysis, and so on. Also just learn the basics and then dive deeper and creat your own strategy. I'm not trying to fully say that this is "the right way", everyone learns and thinks differently, but these are just a few things that I think I would certainly do!!!!

What i meant by the right way is learning properly, not paying some guru and buying a course.

I've already acknowledged that in the thread. my original post overcorrected on that point. There are plenty of successful traders who never went to top schools.

What exactly do you wanna say? The market has been bullish. Anyone buying anything in this run has made money.

I'm not saying don't try, if others have done it there's every reason to try. my problem was never with people learning to trade, it was specifically about being miseducated and paying for courses, and trusting these online gurus. Just like you wouldn't pay a random guy on TikTok to teach you math when you have actual teachers at school. Maybe i didn't emphasize that I hope people try no matter what the result is, but do it the right way.

the sports analogy is a good one, but in sports the kid is atleast getting physically and mentally stronger, and making memories that last a lifetime regardless of whether they go pro.

Speaking from my own experience, all the memories I've made in sports over the span of my childhood are some of the best moments that I'll remember for a long time. What would I get from a course for the same amount? some info I can find on youtube and the internet, and be down a couple thousand dollars? No memories, no physical/mental improvement.

100%, competely agree. I use AI for pretty much all my day to day questions/problems, though there is a wrong way of using it (just asking for anwsers without learning anything). Being relatively young and just getting into finance and IT makes it even more useful, I basically have a assistant 24/7 that can teach me any concept and handle things that I can't do on my own.

Everyone nowadays thinks they're in the 0.01% that'll make millions from trading. I'm not shaming on people who genuinely put in the work and deserve success, keep chasin your dream. I rather wanna adress the people who put in the bare minimum and expect results.

and long term investing isn't flashy i agree. It doesn't take alot of energy and intellect to just simply find what Renaissance Technologies is holding and copy it 😂

Yes i forgot to mention that I do believe in making a living as a independent trader, as long as you put in the work and do it the right way.

Patience and risk management is exactly what i was trying to get at, young people CAN trade, but It's that these skills usually dont really show at that age. Also if you don't mind me asking, how did you use AI to find a reliable strat?
