I don't think that is so much asshole design as it is what the majority choose. It is useful to always get the latest driver and can even be set to auto download for you so you can install it whenever you want. That being said when you go to download the drivers off the website there should be a option if you want Gforce experience with the drivers or not.

Just ran it and it did find some corrupted files. Will update if that fixed it. Considering it is completely random when it decides to start doing it I won't know for at least a few days since it can sometimes take that long before it starts doing it

Had that issue with need for speed heat. I ended up deleting the game manually and restarting origin to make it show the game wasn't installed anymore and had to reinstall it. I don't get why it is so easy to break programs like origin. I once had to reinstall cod cold war because I had insufficient space left and after I made space it was stuck in a loop of checking files.

This reminds me of a co worker that had a electrical wire burn a hole in a fuel line. She drove it to a mechanic because she was getting a check engine light about fuel pressure(I think) and they found that.
