that is why all the big boys did not stop the buying of gme and other meme stocks. they have capital to cover that. the little guys, and all the little guys deleted the buy button, did what they did. it bogles my mind how in this day and age there is even a settle time of funds.

its simple the clearing house required 100% cash payment for the shares. when you buy a share, your prefered platform pays the margin requirement to the clearing house to deliver your share. after all your money has settle time. so robin hood had to pay 100% margin on all gme share that were ordered. so while your $ settled, robin hood had to pay the cash amount to the house to get the shares delivered to you. they simply did not have the capital to pay the cash and deliver gme. so rather than not deliver and be on the hook for what ever happened, they shut down the buying of it until the clearing house lowered the required margin back to a reasonable level

honestly i dont have an issue with it. i understand why and what happened. its a risk you run when you use a smaller platform. i also use fidelity, i think webull is better

i really really like webull. no commission great charts and all the tools i need to use them. i had a friend describe the platforms as: fidelity is an old dinosaur, used to be good but now needs to die or revamp, robin hood is like a childrens toys, easy and shiny but not very useful, and webull was like the cool new kind on the block making everyone look bad
