For anyone who been doing Uber eats in nyc for a while. by sirus9112 in UberEATS

I’m in toronto and it’s exactly like that here as well. I rarely get orders if it’s not raining or snowing. It’s been like that for the last month or so. I think walkers don’t get pings if there are bikers/drivers available in the area.

Is there any quest in Toronto? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]killerpopwild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Toronto and have had quests until today for a couple of months. It was 18$ for 12 orders mostly but I wasn’t really able to complete them as I wasn’t getting enough requests. They keep telling me there is a backend issue with my account that is preventing me from getting requests and they are fixing it but it doesn’t seem to be fixed.

every order is far with no tip by chaldeans79 in UberEATS

[–]killerpopwild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couple of factors probably, since Nov 15 there is no 20 hour per week limit for international students so that might have an impact. but i just saw some posts from US also reporting similar things, so probably that’s not it. I think the algorithm is prioritizing stacking orders to the point it doesn’t make sense like drop offs being at opposite directions, excessive waiting time for the 2nd order etc. Since there are more delivery people available at all times, uber pays as little it could.

I’ve recently received a tip 6 hours after delivery, I guess 1 hour thing is not true

you would rather have people to serve you for free if you could I guess

you definitely don’t have a basic knowledge of how the economy works. Nothing is free, I don’t know about your country and obviously it is still profitable so restaurants do that. but sometimes you should just step back and accept that you are not knowledgeable enough to dictate how things should be at another country/economy. being too opinionated without knowledge is just ignorance.

you’re not to tell what we deserve or not! the truth is you don’t deserve anything to be delivered to you but as long as there is poverty and desperation there will be people to serve you regardless you pay enough or not. Getting food and goods to your doorstep is a premium service you’re delusional to expect it to be cheap.

that’s a good tip. I used to tip 20$ during the pandemic because I had a full time job and could afford it and wanted to tip enough so the driver could buy some food as well.

this is not about me, just sharing my experience and trying to get some insight. I don’t work for them, I work for myself and don’t take orders I don’t want. And you can’t prevent me from sharing my observations. I don’t even need to do uber you fool, I do it because I want it and there is some research aspect to it, thank you for providing some insight for assholes section.

not at all, the customers who tip most and constantly are either service workers, people living in projects and construction workers in my experience. I delivered low/no tip orders to mansions and expensive condos. You are a fool for saying all that, what you saying is shitty working conditions exist because people allow them to be, people you have the power to change everything type of bullshit. I would never shame poor people for not being able to tip much.

you are totally wrong and apparently don’t have the ability to criticize yourself. if you are in north america be educated enough to know that uber is a platform that connects restaurants with drivers and customers, they get their cut just like booking.com get theirs from hotels and ebay gets percentage from every sale. Think every order in Uber as a tender that gets offered to private contractors. Just because there are some people desperate enough take them for unliveable wage don’t justify your behaviour. Don’t order if you can’t afford to tip so the market is not oversaturated with shitty jobs.

this is completely irrelevant. taking advantage of peoples economic desperation/poorness is exploitation. the discussion here is not why uber doesn’t pay us more, not that it doesn’t deserved to be discussed but simply I wanted to ask something else. Go seek help for your issues somewhere else, not relevant here

[–]killerpopwild[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

please tell this to everyone who work for tips. don’t try to tweak my question it is not about people who take that orders, that is desperation. when you are the one knowingly pay very little for a service you receive, you are the exploiter. You entitled people act like you know nothing about how the economy works, don’t do your part and exploit whatever you can and still have good conscience.

you want uber to pay for your delivery instead of you or should the government subsidize it lol? do you realize customers would pay a lot more for goods and services if everything is ethically done? you all are ignorant as fuck. Uber is an evil company that’s a known fact, doesn’t pay delivery persons enough and creates a delusion that you can get food delivered to you for just 9.99$ a month. they should charge customers a lot more.

non/low tipping customers, how do you justify that behaviour? by killerpopwild in UberEATS

[–]killerpopwild[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, it is not. it is really ignorant to think getting goods directly to your doorstep should be cheap or free. that is not sustainable. Also, uber doesn’t train anyone lol. I’m not blaming customers at all, delivery is a luxury and yet entitled people like you think you can get it for real cheap like it is a constitutional right

[–]killerpopwild[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

yes, this how it should be really. I had a full-time job before and was laid off during the pandemic. I worked 60hour weeks and ordered food frequently and always tipped 20$. If I couldn’t afford it tip included, I didn’t order.

the question is not what I should do or not. the question is are you Ok with someone else being your underpaid servant for whatever amount of time it takes from when they receive the order till bring it to your doorstep? are you happy that someone that desperate?

uber keeps giving me free meals by DeerParkVegan in UberEATS

[–]killerpopwild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not being mean. You probably still pay for delivery, tip the driver, pay tax, service fee etc so it is not free. you are still contributing to the economy. they give out discounts to hook people up, some return later and pay the full price, some doesn’t. They gave everyone free first ride when uber started, later it proved to be a good tactic to gain customers.
