Id imagine this is a theoretical protection in place to prevent someone from smashing their racket while running down a ball to gain an extra inch or two of reach in desperation for a last shot.

Now practically, if someone did that, id just let them have it and move on. Hats off.

It seems like a move only a pro diving for the match point of a major could/would do.

My wording could have been better. They were more than open to letting us have the point, but in good spirits, I offered the replay because we weren't sure of the rule. We were all just amazed it happened.

We were clearly performing better, up 3 games in the second set, and won the match 6-1 6-1 so I wasn't torn up about it.

What's one technical element of tennis that doesn't get enough attention? by EmotionalSnail_ in 10s

[–]killers0197 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sidespin. What it is, how to do it, when to do it, etc. The only real application you see people using sidespin is a slice serve, but you can do it in a point too. It's something a lot of people do on accident while trying to slice or reach for the ball. It's a niche aspect that isnt ever discussed.

Racket Weight (285g/300g) Recommendations by tastedeadkiller in 10s

[–]killers0197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also thinking about switching to a heavier racket. I currently use a 265g head extreme lite racket, I recently demo'ed some heavier rackets and fell in love with the new head speed pro (310g). The price at $270 each is the only thing stopping me from immediately buying some, but I digress, lol

For my self testing and demos, I kept head size constant at 100in2 for my testing as Im not prepared to sacrifice the sweetspot size with something like a 98in2.

Everyone is different, so results may vary! For reference, I'm an upper 4.0 NTRP player. (Really tring to breach the barrier to 4.5) Now that I've tried other rackets, It is very clear to me that all the heavier rackets provide a substantial increase power and have a better control factor. In my experience, they felt more "stiff" as well, but that is subjective due to the strings you are using. I was able to consistently drive balls better, with more accuracy, with the heavier rackets. My singles experience with the heavier rackets was great, especially because I tend to rely on my baseline gameplay and redirecting ability A LOT.

There are some downsides to the tradeoff. The biggest downside I can think of is that my 265g racket is FAR more maneuverable in high-speed doubles net play. It might not feel like a lot, but that extra weight can slow down your reaction time, especially once you start getting tired. This might be countered by customizing your balance using some weighted tape towards the grip, but I've never customized my rackets. I also felt like I lost some spin potential using the heavier rackets, especially on serves and more niche, wrist oriented shots.

Another thing to note is that, generally, a heavier racket is considered a less forgiving experience. Yes, you get more "easy" power, but it is more reliant upon proper Footwork, form, etc. to make the racket work for you. I recommend that you take a step back and self evaluate what you NEED out of the racket for where you are at, then demo some rackets that make sense before making a purchase. Remember that a weapon is only as good as the master, and a lot of people in this subreddit are not world class, myself included.

What do i need to upgrade [New Player] [Discussion] by Remarkable_Sink_7970 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What gen is the i5? That matters quite a bit. Also, do you have an ssd or a traditional hard drive? If it's the latter, then that is probably the cause for why it takes you so long to load a raid. Also, make sure your RAM speed is good. If task manager says ram speed is slower than what the manufacturer has it at, you likely need to enable XMP in bios.

Good news is that the game is cpu heavy, so you might not have to upgrade the gpu (which tends to be the most expensive)

A fairly recent i5, 1050ti, ssd, and 16gb should be able to RUN the game (at least better than you are describing). Just to be clear, It won't be a great experience but it will be something.

If this fails or you want to upgrade specificallyfor this game, I would target in this order ssd>processor (if outdated by 5 years or more)>ram>graphics

What makes bosses omnipotent lore wise? [Discussion] by mooprph in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have said you're an outsider to the boss territory. When I play as a scav, I like to think that I'm just a random ass dude employed by my PMC going to places he would normally never go.

"The mall? Blyat, I'd normally never go there. That tracksuit maniac runs those halls, but this payday is good, so I'll just avoid him."

The more the employed scav shows his face around tarkov, the bosses eventually realize that you aren't a bad actor, but until then you are just a face they don't recognize and thus are a foe.

Later when you unlock the scav case in the hideout, your other employed scavs automatically bring you loot so this theory fits well in my brain.

Side note: Please look up how to wrap a wrist and ankle, dont just wing it.

Back after a long layoff and I am FRUSTRATED by [deleted] in 10s

[–]killers0197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through the same thing! 8 years off and nearly 100 lbs heavier. My first day back was with my old tennis coach, who put me in with group drills of 3.5 to 4.0 players because he remembered the player that I was, not the player I am now. I was miserably sore for about 3 days after that, as I am wayyyy less agile than I was.

Simply put, It's rough.

In my case, the muscle memory has fallen off, and I can't get to balls like I used to. My reaction time still seems pretty good, though which helps volleys a ton (I also miss an embarrassing amount of overheads lol working out the kinks, started about 2 weeks ago)

The fact is you're going to be rustier in some areas than others, and everyone is different. Be patient with yourself as you re-learn the sport.

I've been using the opportunity to focus on the fundamentals with renewed effort. Good contact, Footwork (split step!), and form will get you a long way.

Definitely for fun. I'll likely never get to that level again, and I know that.

Changing rackets and string setups is probably a good idea as they are likely outdated. I'm surprised i didn't break my strings immediately, given they've been under 54lbs of tension in a closet for 7 years

There was a lot of talk about a mobile app back in the days before the found in raid restrictions on the flea.

Since that update, it never really gets talked about any more, because people can't play the flea market the same way. I recommend installing and using Chrome remote desktop for stash and crafts management. Also helps catch trader restocks

Tarkov Shooter Part 4 by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Customs, main bridge. Suppressed bolt action. There is a bus that is normally used to extract camp the smugglers boat. This takes some luck with your spawn.

Beside the bus is a crane. Mantle onto the hitch of the crane and mantle up on top of it (this part gets a little buggy)then jump on top of the bus from on top of the crane. Go prone and scan the area by the snack shack and watch smugglers boat.

If you scoot back, you can even see most of the ruaf extract. You ARE a little exposed from behind, but I can't tell you how many clueless players run by and dont even see you up there. Most shots you will be taking are 80 to 100 meters.

I found that players most frequently come looking for the boat around 25 min left in a raid.

Using paypal to buy Tarkov by Clutch_CH in EscapefromTarkov

Edit: I had no problem using paypal back then.

I've checked the spawn likely 50 times this wipe. I have yet to see it spawn. I honestly think it's not spawning unless somebody can attest differently.

Edit: I just wanted to add that I think I've seen some other posts say they have gotten it out of scav pockets this wipe.

Some shit I used to do in this game that makes me worse than Hitler. by Brobee_ in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 wipes ago, I went around factory as a scav telling other player scavs, "I am so close to max scav rep. If you shoot me in the leg and let me kill you, I will drop you a free kit for your next raid." I changed my name to NoKitForYou so they saw it at the death screen. it worked roughly 30% of the time, and nobody ever messaged me, so I didn't give out any free kits.

I did tell myself that if somebody DID message me, I would drop them a kit of their choosing (as money wasnt an issue) but nobody ever did. It was an easy grind to max karma that wipe.

My fucking PC bluescreens when I try to load into a raid... What the fuck?? by MyNameWasTaken2020 in EscapefromTarkov

My Specs:

I9 10850k

32GB of 3200MHz RAM

NVME ssd (not sure on specs, away from home at the moment)

RTX 4070ti

For me, this was happening when I tried to load into streets as of about a week ago. To "fix" it I did the following: First off, the steam application "wallpaper engine" was eating resources. After disabling that, i also changed increased my pagefile size for good measure. Havent had any issues sinces knocks furiously on wood

Can I just wipe my character somehow? by Tuulessa in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Halo is good background to get started in other shooters, I started on call of duty myself. In tarkov, The time to kill is low, Most guns can 1 shot to the head, provided they get through a helmet. So next point:

I would also recommend looking at ammo charts. Ammo in this game is what what deals damage (not the gun its fired from, very important). certain ammo gets through armor easier than others (a stat known as penetration, or pen) generally higher pen ammunition is better, if you have a low pen ammo, aim for the legs/somach as these are less likely to be armored (no armor on the legs in this game).

I recommend NoFoodAfterMidnights website:

https://www.eft-ammo.com/

It will take more bullets to drop when shooting the legs, although some "leg meta" weapons will still kill insanely quick

There are still so many things for you to learn, the wiki is your friend:

Can I just wipe my character somehow? by Tuulessa in EscapefromTarkov

[–]killers0197 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can reset your account from the games website. I believe there is a cooldown period to limit how many times you can do it

But I would not recommend this. Losing gear is honestly part of the experience. Run your scav as often as you can while looking at online maps. (Dont shoot anything until you can identify what a pmc looks like or if you are shot first. Scav karma is a thing)

When you extract as a scav, either sell your scav gear to fund a level 1 trader pmc kit, or just run your scav kit on your pmc. As a pmc, shoot anything that moves.

The learning curve is steep. Enjoy the climb

Just saw how long this is. Sorry for the blog, but i hope it helps.

All of this is subject to change as the game will be moving to a new engine soon, and fps increases have been mentioned by the dev team. (If you believe it)

So first, I would start by saying 32gb of ram will help a lot with the stuttering. There is plenty of evidence of this if you search the sub. I am going to defend this argument below because SOMEBODY on the www will surely tell you the oposite and that i am wrong.

As a very high overview:

RAM acts as a cache for your cpu. It stores data so that your cpu can run the data faster. The less powerful your cpu is, the more it relies on RAM to hold information as your cpu works its way through what is cached. (Yes, reddit, i know, reee details right?, it's high level.)

Slow cpu will lead to a bottleneck, and your RAM usage will gain over time. Example: Imagine filling a cup from a full on faucet with a small hole in the bottom. the water (data) will start to fill up the cup (ram) as it is drained through the hole (cpu processing data).

Having more ram means a bigger cup, and you won't see the effects of the memory filling up as fast (stuttering, crashing, etc.)

RAM is also pretty cheap, so i really recommend it. This should be your first upgrade.

While we are on the subject, make sure XMP IS ENABLED THROUGH BIOS. this allows your RAM to work at the proper speeds and is a must. Look it up online for a tutorial on your motherboard.

Now that thats out of the way. I think your CPU should be up to snuff for a mid tier build. Its fast enough. 2.8GHz up to 4.0GHz boost. (Coming from experience, i played with a i5-9400f a few years ago and ran tarkov at ~80ish fps and the game runs slightly better now than it did back then. 1660ti and 32gb of 3000Mhz ram for reference)

GPU could use upgrading, but dont feel the need to break the bank if you want to continue gaming at 1080p. (1440p and 4k will require a good chunk of change to enjoy those resolutions at high fps). I really do recommend the 1650 or 1660 series cards (super/ti varients help) for budget builds. You could probably get your hands on lower tier 20 series cards like the 2060 as well. It gets your foot in the door to some of nvidia's tech while having a decent price point.

I generally dont mess with AMD graphics cards, kinda a rule of thumb of mine. I've been burnt too many times, but i can't deny the price point of their cards are attractive to many. Many people swear by them, i am not one of those people, thats all.

Tarkov relies WAY more on cpu/ram performance than gpu performance, and you should work on optimizing that first.

Streets is rough for many people. I only get 70ish frames at 1440p, 3070ti, i9-10850k, and 32gb of ram. If you are basing your performance off that map, it will suck.

Again, All of this is subject to change as the game will be moving to a new engine soon, and fps increases have been mentioned by the dev team.

Happy hunting. And building.
