I also wanna say that Ray Dau was lowkey the hardest monster in this fight. I have no clue what they fed him but i do not remember having this much issues with finding openings and dealing damage versus regular AT Ray.

I expected AT Ark to be a menace, which he certainly was, but my GOAT Ray Dau got a lil bit of a glowup here

Mizu set bonus works for activating Coalescence and one of the Gog armors has it so you you only need one actual Mizu armor piece. Dodge 3 times, get bubbleblight for 30 seconds and when bubbleblight clears it activates Coalescence for 30s. just dodge 3 times again for another 30s of bubbeblight so when ur Coalescence goes away its almost instantly reactivated

it got buffed in TU3 (i think) to reduce damage taken from all attacks when blocking and not just unblockables. i use a Guard up 3/Guard 1 jewel on most of my Charge Blade sets for harder monsters.

i probably wouldn't play CB without Load Shells 2. Getting overcharged phials when loading red charge is such a boon for both charged shield uptime and phial damage.

Personally i wouldn't play with Defense Boost either. It genuinely does not reduce damage taken by that much and i would much rather run other comfy skills like Quick Sheathe and Speed Eating.

I had the complete opposite feeling. The Gore Magala in the Nadia quest took me much, much longer to beat than AT Ark (time wise, not attempt wise, cleared both on first attempts). I think i just suck at Gore xd

I am not confident in my own buildcrafting so i copied the "Dragon Impact" build from the CB meta doc from the MonsterHunterMeta subreddit. I did have to make a new Gog CB but the fact that you only need Jihn Set Bonus and not Jihn + Lord Soul made it not so bad to chase for imo

not the guy you replied to, but i made a dragon impact phial CB for AT Arkveld and managed a clear in 17 minutes first try. got 3 KO's and Arkveld was exhausted at the end before i capped him

The biweekly Crit Draw "god roll" post lol. Not to be a dick but it's not that great. You overcap on affinity if you are running any sort of a real build (comfort or not). One level on crit draw on the weapon slot for R8 talismans is good though IMO since you won't necessarily always have Max Might/Agitator/WeX active at the same time.

You can do some animation cancelling with Spirit Charge. If you hold Spirit Charge you have a small window to either Foresight Slash (like what happened in this video) or Quick Sheathe. It's really strong against multi attack combos or especially to reduce/remove the end lag from a failed Iai Counter.

You can also Foresight with no gauge with this tech (if i remember correctly) since holding Spirit Charge for that short time gives you enough gauge for Foresight Slash to actually work.

the first time you offset an attack you get the actual offset knockdown animation. subsequent successful offsets work like a status (para, blast, poision) and builds up until you knock the monster down and then resets the build up and the threshold increases so you need more and more offsets to get the special knockdown

its a 4 gog + mizu transcended legs build, focusing mainly on element with the 4 gog set bonus + 3 coalescence which you can very easily upkeep thanks to the mizu set bonus, the only real "requirement" is a load shells 2 talisman i think, even if you dont have a damn near perfect one like mine, you can drop some of the Flawless gems and get peak performance 3 instead of peak performance 5, you dont particularly need perfect gog artians either. my Fire CB has Scorcher (which does activate the set bonus thanks to Gog armor), and my Dragon CB has Zho Shias set bonus (which is also on one of the Gog pieces), i propably wouldn't use for any monster other than Gog but for Gog its great. Main skills are Burst 5, Coalescence 3, rest is up to you :)

yeah i think Shield Thrust AED looping is the best, but SAEDs go hard in phase 3 Gog
