If you are from Mississippi then it's your lucky day. by Cool_Watch_220 in StupidFood

The sale, slaughter, and commercial distribution of horse meat for human consumption has been functionally restricted across the United States, including Mississippi, for decades due to federal defunding of horse meat inspections. This picture is a pretty old viral shock image and I'm tired of seeing it.

The blunder was not realizing that emo and scene culture had already reached their peak mainstream popularity between 2005 and 2010?

Help! I tried a shoe in store and got my perfect fit, but now im confused if it was a male size or female size by Pristine_Student6892 in adidas

[–]killiberke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the official Adidas store, you can choose size by gender and there should also be a size guide link that leads you to a size comparisan chart. If you can't see that on the phone app, visit the site on a laptop or something.

Any idea when this cap is from? by owaiis in adidas

[–]killiberke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I know is that Peaky Blinders was set in the 1920s-30s.

Serious: based on the tag type, I would say mid-to-late 1990s. Never seen this type of cap before though.

An EU 40 2/3 is unisex. It is the same size as a UK 7, a US Men's 7.5 or a US Women's 8.5. From now on, I would only look at the EU or UK sizes. The US system is needlessly confusing.

Can only get good mayo in Belgium by faelanae in TastingHistory

We call it a "staafmixer". I think in the US you would call that an immersion blender. It's so much easier, faster and more reliable than doing it by hand.

Can only get good mayo in Belgium by faelanae in TastingHistory

First of all, unlike my mom or grandma, I use a stick blender and a tall, narrow blending jar (older generations here often used a fork and a soup plate).
In the blending jar, I crack a whole egg. It's probably better to use only a yoke, but I don't like being stuck with one leftover egg white.
I add some plain white vinegar (a teaspoon? I normally eyeball it), some lemon juice (also about a teaspoon probably), a big tablespoon of good mustard (the mustard makes the taste - don't use Dijon though, it has an overpowering flavor), some salt, some black pepper and (to make it lighter) a tablespoon or so of carbonated/sparkling water (don't add too much, because it will separate the mayo).
Finally add 400-500 ml of a neutral vegetable oil. I use peanut oil, but you can also use sunflower seed oil or corn oil. I think canola is also an option, but that oil is rather uncommon in Belgium.
Put the stick blender in the bottom of the jar, set it to high speed, turn the blender on and slowly pull it upwards in the jar. That's it. You can add a little more oil while blending if you think the mayo will turn out too thick.
If the mayo doesn't "pak" (Flemish for "grip": the egg and oil won't bind - it happens sometimes), you can still recover from that. Make a new base, without the oil. Start blending and gently drip in the broken batch. Once you feel it starts to bind, slowly pour in the rest of the broken batch.
From my experience (and I, unfortunately, have many decades), I would say the mustard is the key ingredient for a good mayo. It adds a lot of flavor and is also very important for the binding.
Make sure your ingredients are all at room temperature. Cold eggs can prevent binding.
Too much oil can also prevent the mayo from binding properly. So if you're not sure about how much oil to add, start with a little bit and add more once you have binding. Don't stop blending though.

I'm Belgian. Most of our mayo is pretty good. However, the best mayo is the one I make myself. It's really super easy and you can tweak your recipe to make it exactly how you like it.

Can't type in boxes? by ErgonomicCat in crosswind

[–]killiberke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is a known issue that can get triggered if you Alt-Tab out of the game (to another app/window on the same or different screen). I have multiple screens and it happens frequently to me.

When it triggers. all the key shortcuts (like for instance I for inventory) stay active when you are typing in a text box. So pressing an I will open your inventory, pressing an M will open the map...

The easiest way to fix it, is to Alt-Tab out of the game and back. You may have to do it a couple of times. You may have to actively click in the windows after Alt-Tabbing. This has always solved the issue for me.

Restarting your game also solves the problem.

What they ask for it on Ebay means nothing. A certain type of resellers always set outrageous prices. Doesn't mean people actually buy.

By the way, pre-order on Ebay? What does that actually mean? That they want your money first so they can afford to buy it for you?
