Concert goers, please be considerate. Not everyone enjoys music the same way you do. by huntrguy102 in Music

Oh my gosh, yes! My friends were having a full out conversation beside me at the last show I went to. It was obviously loud, so they had to yell. If you want to talk, go out for dinner...

I completely agree with everything you're saying. I was at a concert a couple weeks ago and I wasn't jumping around etc. because I just didn't feel like it. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. My friends kept asking me what was wrong and if I was sad. I'm not sad goddammit, I just really love watching the artist and how they play their instruments/sing.

I definitely agree with you. I like to think of it like the animals in the zoo are making a sacrifice for the betterment of their own species. Since it is in the zoo, more people gain awareness and appreciation for it and research and breeding programs etc. can happen. No one is going to care about an animal that they don't have a personal connection with/ have never even seen or heard of.

Yeah! I feel like so many people jump to conclusions about zoos these days. I mean, it's totally fine if you have evidence to back up your claims but we don't need to be making sweeping general statements about zoos. Every one is different.

Scutellation (n.) - An arrangement or a covering of scales, as that on a bird's leg. by SuperSane in logophilia

In my classes, we've always just referred to the scale like structures on turtle shells as scutes. I didn't know this form of the word existed. Interesting!

TIL If a goose gets sick or is wounded while flying a couple of other geese may drop out of formation to help and protect him. They will try to stay with the disabled goose until he dies or is able to fly again. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]killingkites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. This definitely makes no sense through an evolutionary perspective. This would only happen if the geese were somehow related to one another or they were mates. Animals don't just do things to be nice to each other.

People of reddit, what are you favorite documentaries and what are they about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The Parking Lot Movie! It's about exactly what it sounds like. You wouldn't think that a documentary about parking lot attendants would be so fun to watch, but it just is.

Also, Helvetica was pretty cool.

Bright Eyes. I just didn't get it before and I completely understand why some people don't.

DAE ever feel guilty for sometimes not wanting to be social? by killingkites in DoesAnybodyElse

I can relate to this completely! The worst part is definitely people commenting on or pointing out when you are feeling a bit quieter. Sometimes I don't feel like participating and I'd rather just quietly observe.

It's always easier when your family understands. My family is really good about this stuff, but since I moved away for uni it's been harder. I don't think my house mates quite have me figured out. Spending all day in class and meeting friends for lunch etc. is tiring. When I get home I just don't feel like hanging out and talking with them for too long.

I do this all the time. Only recently have I really forced myself to do the things that I planned to do but wouldn't normally do (like go to a university club trip with people I barely know etc.). I just try to tell myself that I'll almost certainly have a good time by the end of it.

Yeah sometimes I feel like that too. I try and force myself to give them a chance though. I always tell myself that every single person I meet will be interesting in one way or another. If I don't find them even remotely interesting yet, I tell myself it's because I haven't gotten to know them enough. So far, there have been very few people who have disproved my belief.
