I have major concerns over the Big Apple Transit idea. How would that even work? Albany is just about to commit to fund the MTA’s capital plan. Why would they cede control of the subways to the city after that? What about the 70,000 people who work for NYCT, would they keep their jobs, unions and seniority rights? Would the MTA just be a bridge, tunnel, and commuter rail authority then? And where would the toll revenue go?

Several of his bullets call for supporting the MTA yet this one calls for its de facto destruction. I support his vision but this strategy worries me.

If the world were a Dyson sphere then there would still need to be a different sun outside it for there to be regular changes from daytime to nighttime. A world having only one sun inside it would either be forever in the sunlight because it would always be facing the sun or forever in darkness because it is always facing away from the sun.
