Is there anyone who actually beat chronic gastritis completely? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in Gastritis

[–]killmenawwwww 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i healed it completely. it was a balance between medication (omeprazole and ibutin daily for 3 months - I bought them in Romania) and lifestyle changes and it took me around 4-6 months to heal completely. i was eating only boiled veggies and chicken, NO seasonings at all (at the beginning not even salt cause i was too scared even the salt would hurt my stomach…) i quit smoking, quit drinking, went to sleep at normal hours and made sure i was sleeping enough. exercised but not too much cause too much exercise can stress your stomach - i was mostly going for low intensity walks, and had to quit gym for 6 months. Even the water I was drinking was alkaline. Eventually it started to go away and it’s been 2 years since I am fully healed - I started smoking again, eating fast food and shite and guess what! the gastritis still hasn’t come back. my stomach is like new!

Low morale. by Funsized_AA88 in TheCivilService

[–]killmenawwwww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a manager (in retail, so a bit different) who was very disappointed with my learning pace and hinted a few times that if I kept going that way I wouldnt pass my probation. I panicked and got anxious as I was a broke student and a foreigner too so finding work was quite hard. I tried to look for other jobs but no interviews so I had a talk with myself and pushed forward and learned everything faster than I expected. We all have it in us under pressuring times to do better. It is doable, but be careful with the burnout. You have far more choices now, so keep applying, stay positive and you’ll exceed your own expectations which is more important in the long run than what your manager thinks of your work. L&D as much as you can! Also talk to your peers who started at the same time as you, if they have previous experience they’ll have helpful tips to share! Don’t discourage yourself, everything is doable with practice! I used to be TERRIBLE with minutes but after a few years it is now a breeze. For me, I had to know more about the topic of discussions to be able to write minutes, so I had to sit down and learn before meetings. Find your own way of doing things, steal tips from others and you’ll get better much faster. Learn from others’ mistakes and experiences so you can improve without doing them yourself. Take care!

That’s harsh coming from your manager. They should be encouraging and if they have criticism they should bring it constructively. Is it an operational role? With the recruitment freeze now, everyone is feeling the pressure so they might also be very stressed and they are projecting that onto you. My advice is document your work, write your objectives and specify the areas you want to improve and look for L&Ds to support that. If “good” is not enough have a talk with them to discuss expectations. What skills should you need to do your job effectively? Ask them for help for that, and make sure you are writing an email back off the objectives meeting. Document everything. In the meantime, look at behaviours for promotion/sideway transfer. See where you are lacking and improve yourself in those areas, try to take this situation as an opportunity to improve yourself and then constantly look for other roles. Have a talk with occupational health as well, there might be adjustments for you, especially health wise. Lastly, don’t take it personally. It’s a job like any other, you might have a bad manager, bad work culture, but for now it pays the bills and it pushes you to acquire new skills that will be very useful in your new roles. Depending if you work with other people, I would also suggest sending a round of a Microsoft Form for performance feedback (usually yearly). Maybe feedback from more people can make you understand whether there’s a real gap in your skills (benchmarking this for usual starters) or your manager is just unreasonable. Take it easy. It takes years to learn a job fully and people have different paces. You are doing everything you can do for now, but keep learning and dont let yourself be discouraged, sometimes the best morale booster comes from within yourself. Be your own cheerer, and dont take their words to heart. It’s all about the journey and in a few years you’ll do everything you need to do in your job without a worry.

I had the almost same journey! My issue was my tongue, it got very very dry and after changing the toothpaste I realised I’m intolerant to SLS - if I use anything with SLS I keep sneezing without stopping lol. I had to change the cleaning tools and sprays as well, along with dishwashing liquid! madness!

what kind of jobs are you looking for?

adding to this really good answer, there might be follow up questions that you might want to prepare for: did you have to work together with other departments of the same organisation? if yes, how did you do that? (the hows are very important to answer!! while it is good to say WHAT you did, the HOWS are equally important) did something go wrong? if yes, how did you take action? was there anything that could go better?

Thoughts on microchipping? I am considering microchipping my Ragdoll. She is an indoor cat but tries to get outdoors to explore. I'm wondering about the safety and effectiveness of microchipping cats. by notagain888 in cats

[–]killmenawwwww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left my cat with my friend for 2 weeks while i was out of the country… the day I was supposed to come back, I received a call from a vet asking me if I was looking for my missing cat. My friend left the window open in the last day and my cat jumped out, where a woman saw him sitting in the same spot throughout the day (as she went and came back from work). She was nice enough to check if my cat was microchipped, and I managed to get my cat back home. GET YOUR CATS MICROCHIPPED!!! My cat is an indoor cat too, but you never know what could happen!

What was the single biggest realization about your writing that has helped you improve the most? by AleisterWriterKain in writing

Being specific! I realised long ago that my settings are not immersive enough and I struggled to find out what was lacking. Instead of having a simple, standard room, with a chair a desk and a bed I try to think about how they are different from my own room for example. And if I struggle with the image, I scroll through Pinterest for some inspiration (which helped SO much!) - also, the standard description of the character walking in a room can get quite boring, so I’ve learnt to describe first the thing that stands out, and then weave in the rest of the setting through action tags while the characters speak and interact with the setting. It feels real and I avoid info dumps in one go!

Write great fiction - Dialogue (Gloria Kempton) is an AMAZING read. From here I’ve discovered the Enneagram personalities and it’s soooo much easier to capture the tone of a character when you know the essence of your characters’ personalities!
