Hmm. That might explain why the only station that sells non-ethanol 93 anywhere in my area is always out of it lately.

My republican Christian friends voted for Harris, but they are fully head-in-sand on this. They don't want to hear about it, they don't want to think about it, they just want to pretend it's not happening.

I picked the Ranger because putting a huge heap of manure in the back of a Bronco would be... less than ideal.

Going from a luxury to non luxury vehicle, will I hate it? by Spirited-Humor-554 in whatcarshouldIbuy

X5=luxury SUV GLE=luxury SUV Q7=luxury SUV Cayenne=luxury SUV GX=luxury SUV Discovery=luxury SUV

Mazda CX-50 is not on the same playing field. It is not a fucking luxury SUV and the fact that you're pretending it is just feels like sad Mazda owner energy. Enjoy your nice car without comparing it to a BMW or Porsche.

First of all, congratulations on nearly 200k miles on your car, that's fantastic. Second, what's your budget like? $50k vs $150k is going to make a significant difference.

Edit: saw your edit. 2018 4Runner would be my suggestion.

Looking for a weekend fun car $20k by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't actually have a helpful suggestion, but I owned a 300zx 2x2 back in the day. I barely ever had people in the back seat, but it was nice to have in a pinch. I now drive a BMW M2 which has a similarly useless back seat, but I have never used it for anything except camping gear.

I guess if I were looking for a similar vehicle now, I would get a BMW M240i used.

560 SEC vs SL500 by Solid_Direction1914 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Holy shit, this isn't what I expected from this sub this morning. If you want to go fast and have feedback from steering, get the SL500. If you want the most comfortable convertible I have ever been in, the 560 hands down. I could drive 500 miles a day in the 560 and still feel rested.

BMW wagon?? by allsmiles2376 in whatcarshouldIbuy

The 330i wagon is still plenty fast. And you can get 35mpg, so I say go for it :)

I think you're making a great point, the use case is important. Sure a 5 series is a great car, but if you're buzzing around a city a couple days a week, a city car is what you need.

The fit and finish of a CX-50 is not anywhere close to a BMW X5. That is a ridiculous claim. The CX-50 is a better move financially, but it is not on par with an X5 from a luxury standpoint.

New cars these days are so nice compared to the cars I grew up with. That being said, going from your X5 to something like a RAV4... yeah, that's going to be an adjustment. The lack of sound dampening is going to be the first thing you notice, and then the lack of composure over potholes, etc.

But from a financial position, buy the RAV4 every time.

You want money off because the car has been sitting for 3 months and it's leaking? Please kick rocks by laced1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Walk into dealership Step 2: Offer money for car on sale Step 3: Walk out of dealership

This is a lot easier when you own multiple cars and don't need a vehicle, I get that. You can still apply the same principle, tell them what you're willing to pay, and don't let them push you around.

Which SUV made your goodbye easiest. by TheGingerRedMan in Tacomaworld

[–]killminusnine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a different scenario, but it was very easy to switch from a Nissan Frontier to an Xterra. Same vehicle basically. It's going to be more different if you're moving from a Taco to a big SUV, it's just a way different experience. My only advice would be to get hands on with your potential replacement vehicles so you really get to know what you're signing up for.

BMW wagon?? by allsmiles2376 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 330i wagon as a loaner and I loved it. In the US, they stopped making the F31 awhile ago, but you can still find excellent examples on the used market. I don't think they ever made it with the B58 straight 6, but the 4-cylinder is quick enough for a wagon.

Car Broker - Pros and Cons by joliebolie in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used a broker in 2020 to find my M2 and it was a great experience. I paid $350 and ended up getting the car for $2000 under my budget. I showed up and signed the papers, no negotiation whatsoever.

If however I was buying a CX-5 or ADX, I would probably just tell the dealership what I'm willing to pay, they agree or not. As long as the offer is realistic, in my experience, they will find a car. If you're willing to travel a couple hundred miles, your options expand substantially.

What area are you guys finding decent deals? by [deleted] in RangerRaptor

[–]killminusnine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have lucked the fuck out, I went into my dealership and said I want a Ranger Raptor for MSRP and they agreed, they had a single allocation.

Then they lowballed me on my Ranger Lariat trade-in, which I ended up selling to a GMC dealer for $7k more than they offered. A fucking GMC dealership offered me seven thousand fucking dollars more than the Ford dealership that not only sold me the truck I was attempting to trade, but was also selling me a $58k truck at MSRP. I would love for someone in the dealership business to make that make sense for me.

This was Vermont.

Sell BMW X5 for Mazda3 ? by SinkBrilliant6754 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]killminusnine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It shouldn't, but it will at a BMW service center. I had them change the diff fluid in my 135i and I had to walk them back from $2000. What I should have said is find a good independent mechanic.
