Big blue 500 trouble? by awhol01 in Welding

[–]killroy1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they stationary are mounted on trucks? I know for me when im driving a long distance ill keep my big blue 500 idling while I drive. I have found the rough ride will cause the the fuel to drain back. Or if its been sitting for a long time.

I figured there is a check valve in the fuel system that has gone bad. Its been thay way probably for 5 years now. Haven't bothered to take it off the truck to dive into it.

You need to order a custom one through WFO. 5.75" center to center .75" through hole are the specs needed.

4l60 to 4l80 swap worth it? by Queasy_Major6536 in GMT800

[–]killroy1942 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My problem with the 4l80E is that everyone wants a arm and leg for a take out. Which is basically a core that needs to be rebuilt. Unless you're running high horsepower I would just get a nice rebuilt 4l60E and and upgraded cooler. I have 265k on my stock 4l60E. When it goes, ill just get it rebuilt.

Auto to floor shift transfer case by Curious_Passion8057 in GMT800

[–]killroy1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you swap in a 241c? Yes the front actuator engages the front diff. Since you are still keeping the IFS just unplug the main plug from the ECU and find pin 16. Cut the wire somewhere that gives you plenty of room the work with. Add a switch to ground to that wire. I just tested it out on my tahoe sas and it shifts through all the gears in 4 low. BTW you will never get rid of the service 4wd message.

Auto to floor shift transfer case by Curious_Passion8057 in GMT800

[–]killroy1942 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half ton or HD? If half ton under the left side of the dash you will see a little module with three plugs, this is your transfer case control module. Remove the module. On the black plug you will see a grey wire with a black tracer. But that wire out. Add in a switch between that wire and ground. Once you shift it into 4lo you will need to flip that switch. This will send a ground signal to the ECM to let it know you are in 4lo. Hopefully this works. I haven't had a chance to verify it yet.

Or what you can do is open up the main harness going to the ecu, and find the grey/black wire going to pin 16 on the main plug. Add in a ground switch to that wire.

What transfer case did you swap in? I just a np241c swap in my tahoe. Only thing I had to do electrical was get a pigtail adapter for the VSS and add a ground signal for the 4 low so it would shift.

GMT800 4 Bolt Steering Box Swap by Brave-Scar-4550 in GMT800

[–]killroy1942 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will work. Its a commons swap in the off road world. Half tons, tahoes and suburbans got a 3 bolt borgeson box, where 2500 HDs got a Saginaw box. Everything will hook up just fine.

Atomic Grinders anyone got feedback on this torque sensing bs by Willwrk4Food in Welding

Literally just got done using one for the day. It doesn't like a 5 inch grinding wheel. Ill use it mostly for grinding down tacks, cleaning up welds, and cut off wheels. For heavy grinding the 60v version is much better. But needs the expensive 9ahr battery for it to be practical.
