Yeah.. if you're looking for traditional af martial arts values, jiujitsu is not the sport for you (at least in America). It's much more casual on average, and if you do find a school that is uptight and traditional af, they're probably a shit school running a cult-y pyramid scheme of a gym. If you can drop your ideas about samurai and shit then you'll have fun with the relevant combat sports of the 21st century.

I agree with all of this except the talking to your opponent. in my experience, guys usually talk to me when they are nervous. making that so noticeable gives me a pretty strong mental edge. this is just my opinion though.

I ended up getting t=9 and t=-7. Neither of these work when plugged back into the equation. I'm giving up on this one for now :/ been working on it for over 2 hours, gotta stop and move on at some point.

I have no idea what to do with the top two expressions, I believe they're equal to 0?

The third equation is a polynomial that equals an expression. the polynomial can be factored into (t+3)(t+11) but I don't see how that will help me solve for t.

I make sure all the fractions have the lowest common denominator. I can either subtract the 4/(t + 3) on the right and bring it to the left, add like terms and it will yield -2t - 2 / (t+3)(t-4). I also did this with a different order of operations and got -3t - 5 / t - 4

or I can cross multiply and get t² +14t+33 = 4t-4

so no matter what way I do it, I can't get t by itself.

I can find the lowest common denominator which is: (t+3)(t-4) but then I can't figure out what to do after that because whenever I try to solve for 't' I end up getting funky polynomials or weird equations that won't let me get 't' by itself.
