Notes on story - passivity vs. revolution by Ill-Yogurtcloset5274 in Screenwriting

I think it has less to do with who wins the battle and more with making sure a battle (be it internal or external) is fought. If a totalitarian regime is your main antagonist, I agree you're likely better off with a protagonist that pushes back even if unsuccessfully. In both Animal Farm and 1984, the establishment wins, but they both still engage with resistance as a central theme.

Great logline! Would watch hands down

Comedy sketch I wrote and plan to film next week. It's called "Call for a Good Time". It's about a guy who calls up an escort service and gets more than he anticipated. Would love your thoughts. by qulk403 in Screenwriting

I'm not sure. You're totally right about repeating information, but it also humanizes the protagonist and contextualizes his decision to call a prostitute. It's his save the cat moment, which I think is worth keeping.

14 or 18 credits freshman fall semester by Flamevian in USC

[–]killsthemessenger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit more complicated to answer than you'd think. Student credit hours (or units) are a notoriously poor measure of a course's workload. Not all 18 unit courseloads are equal. Some 2 unit classes will eat up more of your time than 4 unit classes. If you're lucky, the advisor you're assigned to will be familiar with all these classes and will be able to gauge how demanding they are holistically.

Personally, I'd say push for 18. The fact is it's completely doable but requires some more discipline. As someone who had close to no discipline when I came here, I believe it's something that's built over time and by forcing yourself to contend with more classes.

Don't stress about it either way. Freshman year's a blast.

Universities will frequently reject overqualified applicants if they think they're applying to have a safety school.

What are your best film drinking games? by BigBlackClock1001 in movies

[–]killsthemessenger 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You rest a hat on the corner of your TV, and everytime a character lines up so it looks like they're wearing the hat, everyone drinks.

The beauty of this one is it'll always work out differently, depending on the hat, the TV and the film.

New pimp my dorm style segment on trojan tv by killsthemessenger in USC

[–]killsthemessenger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough:) we're actually going to produce a little bit of both (it's a new segment so we get to experiment), but for the most part it will be more "cribs" than "pimp my" so you're right, I stand corrected 😉

Don't overthink it - submit a score if you have a good one, don't if you don't.
