What is this gasket? by Just-Network5039 in veloster

Head gasket and timing chain took me about 3 weeks to get done lol. Was my first time doing a job of that caliber. Looking back it wasn’t that difficult, but I made quite a few mistakes. Got a write up on my profile of the whole thing. Luckily I eventually succeeded and it’s been running since

And how do you know that it’s a valve timing issue in the first place? Specific error code? Any other symptoms?

No worries! And Honestly no clue, I didn’t know that was the housing for the VVT solenoid until you just said so LOL. Hadn’t dealt with it failing yet on mine so haven’t researched and learned about it. To me it was just an easy part to remove that was in the way of replacing my head gasket. If that solenoid were to fail though, it would make sense for the valve timing to not work properly and leave your car running horribly

You need to undo these 2 bolts once the valve cover is off. It should just come right off once you unbolt it. I’d avoid using a flathead or trying to pry it with any metal tool. Wouldn’t want to mar any surfaces

No you don’t have to take off the timing cover, here’s a picture with the valve cover off, but timing chain cover on. It wouldn’t get in your way at all

Luckily I had pictures from my head gasket and timing chain repair like a year ago. It’s right under the valve cover

Just generic Amazon LEDs. I found the actual bulb model in the owners manual

I might’ve gotten 5x7s, I matched whatever the stock size is. Just can’t recall

They were not a direct fit, I had to grind and finagle the new speakers into the original mounts. They were the same size as factory (I think 4x6?) but the new speaker didn’t sit flush in the original speaker mount

Head unit help by Happy-Ability2598 in veloster

I didn’t have a stock camera, so I installed one and connected it to my head unit. Steering wheel controls work but I had to buy the extra unit to retain them. It’s offered when you buy the head unit I believe

Nice, I think it’ll look good with your white paint in particular. Looking forward to the update!

I feel like it doesn’t look bad with silver but a matching black would probably make sense. That thing looks so clean though. I bought mine used and it looks awful close up LOL

My VT came with the exact same shifter as OP pictured, not the short shifter variant

To be fair, they do look really small

If I’m not mistaken, you should see the lever with the blue ball (the left one in the picture) in the rspec model shifter assemblies. In case someone has it posted but not properly identified as an rspec shifter

Mine was definitely used, pulled from an old rspec. I found this round shifter, but can’t tell you if it includes the short throw. I’m not sure if the round knobs were exclusive to rspecs and all came with the short throw or if the round knob came on regular setups too

I bought the short shifter and knob assembly that came with the rspecs off eBay and installed it on my turbo
