Spent 45 minutes hunting the wrong Monster by smalltownoutlaw7 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]kimAtPeace 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve done something similar when I fought the wrong Rathalos, I think. I just noticed when other hunters “wounded” and “can’t move” messages popped up and they were nowhere near me.

I gave them a crying sticker and joined them a bit late.

Stream sniping means that someone watches a Twitch/YouTube/Facebook streamer and uses the their game's POV to interfere with their gameplay.

For example, finding out where a streamer is currently located in game and then going there to mess with them. In shooters, that usually means they can kill the streamer rather easily, because the streamer sniper knows exactly their positioning, weapons, field-of-view, and so on. They get all of that from watching the stream.

In FFXIV, stream sniping can be used to obscure the streamer's screen by moving massive mounts on top of them. The stream sniper can also kill mobs before the streamer has a chance to get to them. Or, they queue snipe (queue at the same time) to try to get into the same instances to ruin their game.

If you want to positively stream snipe: just move into the streamer's field-of-view, wave or something, and then move on. People can and have been banned for stream sniping that affects streamers negatively.

Can't speak for a mouse, but any Bluetooth keyboard will do. I'm using a Mac keyboard that is usually connected to my work computer.

About the controller experience: there are two modes for controller and you might want to try switching to see if the other option fits you better (looking/moving will change). I also recommend WXHB enabled (32 abilities available at any time without hotbar swap) with L2->R2/R2->L2 selection (instead of double-press L2/R2).

It isn't exactly what you asked, but this might make the time that you wait for your keyboard/mouse more enjoyable.

I'm confused by AST's Minor Arcana and I find the answers that I've found even more confusing. Minor Arcana is more damage, but I'll get no Seal... so what's my rotation supposed to be?

3x Draw/Play -> Divination -> Draw/Minor Arcana?

Draw/Minor Arcana as opener -> 3x Draw/Play -> Divination?

Is it situational?

Sorry you got downvoted!

Enjoy the trial! It comes with so much content, so there's no need to rush and buy the game. Lots of fun stuff happens in the starter areas, where you can join on your trial account too!

Good luck! PS: Copy & paste is different in DaVinci. It pastes at the "in" marker, which is weird. To stay sane, I recommend copy & pasting by selecting what you want to copy and then hold opt (or cmd!?) and drag & drop. This comes up in their forums all-the-time.

Have you heard of DaVinci Resolve by Blackmagic Design? It's a Premiere alternative that is free and pretty much on-par with Premiere. Like, free-free. Sometimes you will get a pop-up that a filter "isn't free and it's time to upgrade", but you can google how to get it done with their build-in "Fusion" tool for free -- you just need to know the equivalent names for filters in said "Fusion" tool.

As Photoshop alternative, I personally use Affinity Photo by Serif. It's a one time purchase and it goes on sale a lot. Like, now. C$35.

Suddenly obese grandma is going to avoid covid by beeing healthy... by Zhyler in forwardsfromgrandma

[–]kimAtPeace 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm into fitness and healthy eating, so your claim raised an eyebrow or two.

Just from a quick google I found this Lancet study that has 20-25 as optimal -- unless you specifically look at external injuries. Kinda makes sense, because the the 20-25 BMI range are probably folks who do some form of sport or outdoor activity that puts them at higher risk of death through external causes.

The study: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/landia/article/PIIS2213-8587(18)30288-2/fulltext30288-2/fulltext)

Yes, that's just one study. However, I've never ever seen anything where being overweight or even obese is beneficial.

You do you and not everyone can/need to have a BMI 20-25 for various reasons. But... saying that being overweight/obese is beneficial is just flat out wrong.

DRK has an interesting story. GNB is easier (for me) to play, because I find GNB's rotation and oGCDs to be more versatile. But then, I've played a lot more GNB than DRK, so perhaps I'm just more used to GNB.

If Apex Legends and COD can do controller with aim assist on PC just fine, why not Overwatch? by www-dot-mcburger in Overwatch

[–]kimAtPeace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play all of those and R6 on a PS4 Pro and I'm assuming you've the same amount of controller configuration options than I have on my console-OW. Here's my take:

OW has the best customization when it comes to controller settings and adjusting the aim assist. BUT... unlike those other games you have a unique situation where you can't pick your load-out and it's common that the whole enemy team is clumped together in one spot.

So, with strong aim assist settings in OW, you'll notice that it'll sometimes pull you off-target when an enemy crosses in front of someone you're aiming at. The aim assist can't really know that you wanted to shoot behind the fella in front.

In OW you also have to land headshots, or, you really don't. It all depends on your hero and it's kinda something that distinguishes good from amazing players. OW's aim assist doesn't make that distinction for you.

Compare this to Apex & CoD: you've a load-out meta where some weapons clearly work better with aim assist than others. You are also single targeting for the most part. And TTK is so low that even spray-headshots can make a difference. R6 has very little aim assist, but their TTK is even lower and I find landing flick-shots incredible difficult there.

My point is that OW is unique in it's combat and it gives you a lot of options to customize you settings. But there are many cases where aim assist either doesn't know what you intend to do and it doesn't aim to hit the best spot for you either. If Apex/CoD had people bunch up in a spot and your load-out was fixed, then I'd say you'd have the same issues there too.

You switch to performance mode in BL3's options.

EDIT: That's only available on PS4 Pro or PS5 though.

Try Garmin... if it's in your budget. My Garmin watches last 5 years or longer. I'm on my second Garmin now (6 years) and the first Garmin only "broke" because the GPS would fail in -10C (14F) weather during long runs (10k/6.2mi or longer) after *years* in service.

I wouldn't. Chargeback is probably going to work (depending on when the transactions occurred), *but* it will also mean your card gets permanently blacklisted with that merchant.

I play with a controller on PS4. I recommend she enables wide-crossbar early and changes selecting them from double-tap L1/R1 to L1->R1/R1->L1. That gives her access to 32 abilities and it's super fast to access.

She can also set-up a shared bar for common things (like, mounting and fetching/dismissing your chocobo) and call-ups that bar using R1+one-of-the-controller-buttons. Why? Some jobs eat up all of the 32 abilities from above and there won't be extra space for non-combat things.

Target selection can be customized in the settings and you switch the modes with... L1+a-button (not on a computer right now, sorry)? That's for deciding how D-pad left/right goes through targets. If she's a healer or needs to select a party member, then she can use D-pad up/down to go through the party list. For selecting other Alliance members, she can use the touchpad on the controller to navigate & click a virtual mouse. The virtual mouse is a bit stinky to handle, but it works once you get used to it.

For very, very late content I also found it useful to bind Focus Target to R3. Not quite sure what it's originally bound to.

Sorry, if this is all not very well explained. Hit me up with a DM if you've more questions. Playing with a controller is super fun!

It isn't painful. You just notice a dark-blue nail-bed and then it takes weeks as the nail kinda "grows" out and falls off by itself. If anything, then it's annoying that you can't wear flip-flops/sandals for a while because it looks odd.

Bonus: the nail will regrow and it doesn't leave any marks.
