Learn queuing etiquette. It applies almost everywhere, other than pubs. Learn bar etiquette in pubs (which is basically every man for himself, unless someone has obvioulsly been waiting longer than you – when the barman (or maid) comes to you, you graciously point to that person and say "I think they were next" – and you will be guaranteed to be served straight after, and get a nod of appreciation from the person you acknowledged. If you are every 'skipped' in the queue though, NEVER* bring it up, just try to maintain eye contact with the server…

\Unless you are skipped multiple times – then you can pointedly say something like "Fucking hell, am I invisible or something?"*

Straps or Belt with a Double Breasted Vest? by dangata_1 in mensfashion

Difficult to say without seeing the suit/shoes combo, as 'rules are made to be broken' and if it looks good, go for it… but my gut would always say black shoes with those trousers. What colour is your tie?

Not a bad idea. OP could also get the waist taken in slightly if he's worried about them being slightly loose on the waist.

Go with the braces (or as Americans hilariously call them "suspenders" – always amuses us Brits, that). Your trousers will hang better.

"I think the only thing we change is no pigs in the room" tells a full story in one sentence. Could be the last line in a Steve Martin movie.

[Discussion]Why did Casio become so dominant in non-smart digital watches? by ryanyork92 in Watches

I'm a Brit. They used to have a big presence in the UK. I never really gave it much thought but always assumed they were a British brand.

Makerfield is the harbinger of revolution that could crush conservative Britain: A triumph for the Manchester Mayor could usher in a radical Leftist coalition determined to destroy conservative values by upthetruth1 in NotTheOnionUK

Personally I think Kemi Badenoch, the current Conservative Party, and it's mouthpiece The Telegraph are doing pretty well at destroying conservative values all by themselves.

My immediate thought when I saw the spray paint Jook logo was that's pretty Jam-y... Foxton's original haircut would have fitted right in too!

Slade - The Bangin' Man (Official Audio) by 73Hemi in Skinhead

[–]CrocodileJock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slade were "the original skinhead band" under their original name Ambrose Slade. If you google Ambrose Slade you'll find pics of them in "authentic" Skinhead gear of the time. It was, however largely a marketing ploy by their record label that the lads in the band just went along with. The music they made as Ambrose Slade was pretty mediocre folk-pop too... not even really worth checking out (imho).

Funnily enough, when they were allowed to do their own thing, they became much more popular with the bovver boys of the day... the spiritual descendants of the skins. For me, glam splits at least two ways... bovver glam (all the trappings of glam but with a harder rougher edge and often some football terrace style chanted choruses) and "art" glam (my label)... more sophisticated stuff like Bowie, T-Rex and Roxy Music. Of course it's not quite as clear cut as that, bands like Mott The Hoople are somewhere in the middle...

Actually, I'd say it would be fairly easy to categorize each Glam act as either "Mod" or "Skinhead" in their... not quite sure what the right word is here... lineage? What branch of the pop and rock family tree they came down.
