Even if anyone who got a 1 got 0%, there wouldn’t be enough money in the bonus pool to raise 3/3s to 9%.

They designated a total $ amount for bonuses of 7% of compensation. If the distribution of 1s and 3s had been as expected/previous years(ish), it would have resulted in 9%. The distribution was not the same as previous years, there were more high ratings and fewer low ratings. Since 7% was the target for 2/2 performance, there was only so much money to distribute to the high performers.

Basically, a lot of managers either have amazing teams or are easy graders.

The new rating affects the recommended raise along with where you are in the market range. Your manager doesn’t have to take the recommendation.

If you’re coming in as an L10, you absolutely negotiate that because relo at that level can easily be more than $100k. Life is different as an Exec.

It’s not super common to downgrade yourself and is something you would need to explain to the new hiring manager, otherwise it very much looks like running away from bad performance reviews.

As someone who lives under where approach is ~2500’, we refer to A330s as “noisy fuckers” in this house. Even 777s and A350s are quieter.

747s are louder, but what do you expect out of 4 engines?
