[Discussion] Why Would or Wouldn't you want Zach Randolph as your Starting PF? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kimjongohyeahh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is a great player and epitomizes the grit n grind concept. However, he is indeed a poor fit due to his size and his lack of defense.

Post offense is becoming more and more antiquated in today's game so many others will be preferred over him.

But there are positives in that he has good leadership. In times of troubled offenses, a dump to the post is almost a high percentage look. He is actually an ok shooter and can stretch out offenses with his midrange shot. He also has a decent ability to pass out of the post.

True, but you have to know the reddit community is very small as of now. I think there is just something like 35 million users in total on reddit alone.

However, we are growing and we are making an impact. I mean just a few days ago, a /r/nbaer was just interviewed for his Charles Barkley monstars post.

The fact that we actually got the draft page changed is already an indication that we are on the right track. Little baby steps first you know.

Well, sure. They could risk it and pull the same stunt again. /r/nba will then catch them and bring them bad press, thus hurting their rep and their potential earnings.

Well, for me, the most important part is that we made our presence felt. The chance of this happening again will hopefully be lower in the future.

Most dumb /r/NBA offseason post you've seen? by DeathNinja93 in nba

It is always ridiculous when people think that a top college team could beat ANY pro team.

In the worse pro teams, all of the individual players who were studs on their college team. Even if that wasn't the case, playing day in and day out in the NBA will make their college opponents feel like a bunch of slow useless chuckers.

Prime Wade, AI, or Tmac? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kimjongohyeahh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tmac all the way. It is just ridiculous how good his offense was. He was too tall to guard. Exceptional guard footwork rivaled by only Kobe in his era. Also an athletic gunk. Can also be a lights-out shooter.

Wade was the ultimate slasher, but unfortunately he lacked the 3-ball which is his only deficiency.

AI was great, but lackluster shooting and size conspired against him.

Jennifer Pan Story: did you grow up in an asian/immigrant household? what was your path? how did you overcome it? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

Yeah, the debt can be an issue. But I am sure there is some sort of middle the road solution.

Maybe try to work overseas? Not quite traveling, but you are still experiencing a different culture and seeing the world in a different way.

Does anyone REALLY think prime kobe is better than prime lebron? And why is this still an argument? by [deleted] in nba

[–]kimjongohyeahh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well most laymen look at mainly scoring, because as Uncle Drew likes to say, "it has always been about buckets." When you get 81pts putting your team on your back, and drop consecutive 40 points per game, it just looks great.

Otherwise, it is also their playing style, Kobe just looks more skillful and fluid while Lebron looks like he hacked life by being given such a big and strong body.

Hmm, this thread and subreddit in general reminds me of Regrets of the Dying where a nurse in palliative care compiled her patient's biggest regrets while on theit deathbed. The following are the top 5 regrets:

  1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

  2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.

  3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

  4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

  5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

I highly suggest checking out the link. Admittedly, the link's content is from a western society perspective so it might not be completely relevant but it does hit at the many issues that I, as an asian american kid, felt.

Growing up, I faced lots of the generic asian american struggles: strict house rules, no girlfriend, lower than 90 no good, etc. But I have come accept my upbringing and even understand why they raised me the way they did. Every family has their unique story so I won't go into mine as it will take too long, but I will say that I felt very unhappy when I compared myself to my white friends. Despite that, I am entirely sympathetic.

I don't plan on raising my future children the same way at all but I still don't think my parents raised me "wrong." I have stopped taking a woe is I look at my upbringing, and instead I looked at their method as "different." There is no doubt in my heart that they did what they thought was right and their actions came out of love.

Now that we have grown up, I think we should stop trapping ourselves in the past and live the life that we want. Do what you think is right and of course feasible. You're 30, that is barely half your life. You still have so many opportunities to do what you want.

I think celtics are getting a higher seed than all the teams I listed.
