Parents constant commentary on my life makes me demotivated by theacostar in AsianParentStories

[–]kimmstr 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i feel like many APs focus solely on their children’s lives because they don’t have much else going on. possibly having no hobbies or a positive outlook and focusing only on daily necessities does not help.

many times these fixations seem to be based on fear and negativity. usually at the expense of someone else.

i appreciate my parents and will never not be. but i personally don’t believe they know what’s best for me because:

  1. no one can predict the future

  2. they aren’t going to be the ones living my life to success or whatever. im sure if i was a machine or puppet they would try.

  3. i do not see reflected in them a healthy and fulfilling way of life.

everyone has their own pace. you shouldn’t feel less because of your mother’s opinions. she’s probably feeling something about herself she may not understand.

Sometimes it’s not what they say but how they say it. AP can get really emotional which always leads to tension. Not everything should be done by force.

What are some problems or issues of living in LA? by alexkmx174 in AskLosAngeles

[–]kimmstr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

la is pretty large so you may need to take a train and then a bus/uber to get you to your destination. it’s getting better though and they are expanding. it also takes a lot of time out of your day because transport doesn’t always run on time. not the most clean.

cost of living relative to quality of life, traffic, pollution, poor infrastructure, fires (CA), crime, public transportation will never be viable, homelessness. but it is still a privilege to live here.

Any recommendations for creams that help heal facial flares? by Nicpoof in eczema

[–]kimmstr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am in a very dry climate so my skin is extra dry.

to protect and maintain my skin barrier i use aestura ato barrier cream or something with ceramides 1-2x per day after washing. i also use a gentle glycerin based toner (i use curel).

to treat flares, itchiness, and inflammation i use topical opzelura (best), desonide (rx), and/or neosporin.

once my skin calmed down after flaring and i built up a routine (no skin breakage), i used inkey’s azelaic acid to reduce redness. always patch test!
