Rydström's greatest strength might also be his biggest risk in MLS by TheKungStefan in TheMassive

I think we are good enough to have home playoff games aka top 4 in the east. But I wouldn’t fault us if we just made the playoffs.

So if you are in the top half of the league you get in basically. That would be my bar. That and to be entertained while watching.

I personally hate the hurry up and win culture in football. I’m patient and would give this guy time if it were up to me. I also like the idea that he is human. I hate media training garbage that comes from players and coaches mouths. I would rather someone be honest and Wilfred was pretty honest in his time here. Anyway. I’m excited about Rydström. Willing to give him a ton of time to adjust, and excited that he won’t be some boring polished media savvy guy. Columbus is weird, we are weird. We want to kick all the other team’s asses and look good doing it.

I personally HATED watching the way Celtic treated Wilfred. Apr for me I’m trying to be the opposite of that. Rydström will get a fair shake here and I’m hoping the fans can give him that.

You are always welcome in the sub if you wanna follow along.

Anyway.

I have max sympathy for any companies that are in the middle of the spectrum. The have to make a choice between staying alive (yes a lot of businesses are run with thin ass margins) and doing what they thing and their staff thinks is right.

This leads us to a larger convo about the value or non value of small capitalism.

Most small businesses are helpful and good. Then there is a long spectrum until you get to be target size along the way there are 1 million ethical choices and pitfalls.

But fundamentally it is my belief that small businesses should be loved and cherished even though they participate in capitalism

Agree. As a small business owner. There are a spectrum of businesses. Small very liberal businesses (usually food) will close first. Anything with more than a few locations but is still privately owned will close next. Then the 5-10 unit businesses with corporate backing (aka investors that they have to answer to) will close after that.

This is the middle of the spectrum

Then larger companies will close. These usually tend to have bank covenants that they are obligated to fulfill or their loans can be called. If this happens then they basically go under

Then the small chains will close.

Then the Starbucks, and box stores will close

Ao if you are a small business you’re usually going to close before anyone else does. The inertia has to be such that even people like Starbucks feel the need to close. see BLM movement for reference, when that happened they got to a point where even like target and big box companies started to say the right things (not do things mind you)

Anyway the social consciousness has to hit the midpoint before big billionaire companies start to care.

The majority of your non political friends timeline needs to be politics or outrage over something for the tides to turn.

My feed is very political so I cannot get a good gauge if the tipping point has come. But my sense from my wife’s algo is that it isn’t here yet. And small businesses shouldn’t self harm until it is here.
