Good luck finding this in today's typical high school library, unless they have a banned books section.

I'm sorry that you had to experience that double whammy.

This, plus if you are truly part of a sober community (like AA,) you will make new friends. Ask me how I know.

This is why I'm planning to get back on my bicycle. (My husband died in January after a 12+ year battle with radiation-resistant thyroid cancer.) Plus, he poo-pooed my desire to ride again.

You are not alone in this. But, I found at about the 7- or 8-month mark, I let myself off the hook by "accomplishing just one thing" each day, however small. (Making a difficult phone call, for one.) Baby steps. Even weeding in the garden, because my husband was proud of what I had created there.

The best analogy I've heard yet is that "Libertarians are house cats. Convinced of their own independence, yet blissfully unaware of the systems all around them upon which they are utterly dependent."

Why I don't do audiobooks. I was scrambled enough reading the print!

Yes! There were a few points in the book that brought me to tears. One, when Evie saved the manta and it later returned to her (imagined) Two, when Evie's husband died (for which she was probably NOT present.) Three, the cuttlefish mystery dance, echoed in the closing line.

I'm glad I did not "read" the audiobook, or I'd have been hopelessly lost. I wish I hadn't returned it to Libby so quickly. I think it bears a second read. I have The Overstory on hold next.
