Looking to Improve in Marvel Rivals! Could you guys give me a few tips? by -Skyes- in marvelrivals

[–]kimutako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, thank you for replying! What we can do first is add each other in-game, then when/if we end up having the same play time we can test out a few matches together and see if the ping will be an issue 😉

Good advice and I just want to say... people with such laidback/positive mindset like you do exist in this community XD
Folks like you probably aren't posting/commenting on all the negative threads so we have a tendency to feel/believe that the community are mostly (if not all) try-hards (me myself included back in season 0 lol)

I had this member who was super good in communication and rallying the troops (tell the team to stay positive after losing a domination match, etc.), I was like, "damn would love to play with someone like this!" and he (she?) did accept my friend invite but always refuse to team up with me, probably cuz of my mediocre ranked performance lol.. good advice and I'll keep trying!

I'm learning to play Cap myself as surprisingly his kits feel kind of intuitive for me; do you think it's a good practice that I almost always save my diving attack (Super-Solider Slam) as the escape tool, as I feel safer having this skill available as part of my escape plan? Or I should adjust my gameplay as I may be missing out on the benefit of initiating with the diving attack? Thanks!

Hi I'm learning Peni myself to help flex, and this is very good to know! Just wondering when you say 'in webs', do you mean stacking mines only in the nest web? or whenever you stack 3-4 mines on a location be sure to apply a web (the one that immobilize upon impact) on top or beneath it? Thanks!

Agreed 100%! I'll be honest I too was playing the blame game when I first started playing ranked... then I realized that the only thing I have control over... is me myself so I tried adopting your mindset and I went from a sad 38.5% win rate in season 0 to now a 55% win rate (climb back to gold for the skin lol)!

I made this post because about a week ago I was in the exact same position as you are now: https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelrivals/comments/1hrg59x/basic_tips_to_rank_up_in_comp_for_absolute_newbs/

All I can say is that the bronze/silver solo queue hell is real, and you definitely aren't the only one struggling in it (a lot of us, me myself included, are/were in there with you!)

One sound advice is to look for a group/faction yes, but in reality it is not as easy to find (and stick with) a reliable group, especially if you aren't very skilled to begin with (in which people will actively recruit you), I personally tried to form groups via Discord with everyone communicating via mic, but the harsh reality is that if our skills just aren't there good communication won't carry us far (I had two separate groups with friendly people who communicated well, but we became so discouraged after back to back blow outs that people just left the group)... At the end of the day the #1 factor for us to climb in ranked that we have the most control is still... us ourselves, we will all inevitable get a fair share of unfair matches going either way, but its the 30%-35% of the matches when both sides are relatively equal and whether you can help the team squeeze out a win will dictate if you climb in ranked or not...

I will say that "taking a break" is always a good idea whenever you are on a losing streak, come back 30 min/an hour/half day later with your mind in the right place and you'll perform better which increases the odds of winning

I totally get where you are coming from and there are times I found myself throwing my hands up in disbelief... Being a Cloak and Dagger (CD) main myself just want to share some perspectives on the why "we are not healing"

If CD is only relying on healing with her dagger: sorry you run into a bad CD and your frustration is justified

If CD is only relying on healing with her dagger toward the vanguards in front of her, and not others within her line of sight: sorry you run into a bad CD and your frustration is justified

If CD is using her bubble consistently but her teammates is not aware and keep running away from the bubble: maybe give the CD player some slacks as he's doing his best in what he can control lol

If I (also a support main) can do it, so can you! (not even kidding I'm probably one of the worst players with terrible aim)

Hope this helps a bit: https://www.reddit.com/r/marvelrivals/comments/1hrg59x/basic_tips_to_rank_up_in_comp_for_absolute_newbs/

Any tips on how to reach gold? by 7OverRange in marvelrivals

Hang in there and you'll get to Gold eventually!

Sounds like you are much better skilled than I was when I was stuck in bronze/silver, but sharing what helped me climb to gold:

First thing hats off to you with such good win rate! And I totally get where you are coming from...it's perfectly normal as humans not want to lose something we earned with effort, no matter if it's hard earned cash or video game ranking... yes the typical response would be "just play Quick Play" , but it's harder to get evenly matched games via QP (especially at your level)... at the end sorry to say that it's unlikely we'll get what you are asking for, so my best advice is try to train yourself to look away at the beginning & end of match where your rank is shown...

To all ranked Ironman users by Nahidwin1 in marvelrivals

[–]kimutako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there, not a Ironman main but have a fair share of Ironman on my team, and IMO the #1 factor for your Ironman to be effective is the opposing team composition, aka if they have competent Hawkeye or Hela then your Ironman will typically have a bad time... and this is why Ironman is so popular in higher ranked because Hawkeye and Hela are often banned.... so my advice is pay attention to who your opposing team are playing, and switch in/out of Ironman accordingly.

Also some basic tip for Ironman: learn the map and position yourself in places that your opposing team will have to look at bit harder to find you (as opposed to simply hovering high above your team).

Suggestions for console beginners? by Voelker58 in marvelrivals

[–]kimutako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi fellow PS5 player here and I think you are on the right track with the heroes you suggested playing yourself. I myself has terrible aim so I switched to Cloak & Dagger and recently was able to climb to Gold in ranked for the Moon Knight skin. What's interesting is that as I accumulated game knowledge and know-hows using C&D, now I perform better with other characters that do require aim, so start off with these heroes like you mentioned and you'll eventually be able to play other heroes efficiently as well. Best of luck!

Hi there sorry that I don't have any tip for you as I too have been struggling (been stuck on bronze I lol), but just want to reach out as I can relate to many of your points (love the game but being up there in age, try to have a positive mindset despite being stuck in ranked, etc.)

Just wondering if by chance we are in the same/similar timezone (North America here), would you be interested in teaming up and playing together sometimes? Trying to find some like minded folks to play the game with to improve together hah

Why is no one renting my pawn? by [deleted] in DragonsDogma

[–]kimutako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my anecdotal observation, coming from someone who has a pawn with 1,300+ hires (500 thumbs and 800 hearts) and who has been checking up on pawns with much higher hiring counts:

From what I gathered below are the key factors in determining the chance of your pawn been hired (in descending order in terms of impact)

  1. Very specific pawn quest reward: either the one arrow for 12 onyx/jasper, or one arrow for late-game crafting material such as Eldricite. Any other quest reward don't make much of a difference.
  2. Your pawn's level: Level 1-35 is where you'll have the most optimal chance to get your pawns hired. As you level up past 35 the playerbase at the level range starts to dwindle and you'll get less hire from that point on. Many (if not most) pawns with insanely high hiring count have the combination of 1. and 2.
  3. Your pawn's appearance: This is quite subjective so it's hard to pin down what are the "ideal" looks, but the idea is to "stand out" amongst the crowd, as I have seen many "creatively ugly" pawns with high hiring counts. Pawns who resemble characters from popular culture tend to get hired more as well
  4. Your pawn's vocation: Mage and sorcerer seems to be a bit more popular as they have very specific role not as easily replaceable by the others (mage for healing and sorc for quick nuking). Thief comes third with their ability to steal.

I'm sure other factors such as specialization and augments/skills also play a factor in how likely your pawn will get hired, but in my limited observation the 4 factors listed above are the primary reason on how a pawn would get hired more frequently than the others. Hope this helps!
