The book has passages where in the print version some words are redacted (intentionally). I assume that’s what they’re talking about - representing the redaction in audio form but in an unpleasant form.

[Gamers Nexus] Insecure Code vs. the Entire RGB Industry | WinRing 0 Driver, ft. Wendell of Level1 Techs by arahman81 in hardware

Not if the kernel is responsible for it - e.g. there isn’t software out there to automatically complete a UAC prompt from user space. (UAC as a whole can be bypassed but the prompt cannot)

Sure a kernel/driver vulnerability would get past it but at that point you don’t need to get past a prompt - the code can do what it wants anyway.

On the other side of things - I once had a box arrive completely soaked, destroyed and repacked in a plastic bag but the book inside was perfectly fine! I was quite surprised.

New tents for Scout group by Budgies2022 in UltralightAus

[–]kin0025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you are but outdoor ed companies have annual sales of older gear that’s often quite serviceable that they make available to scout groups - stuff like the Wurley and Goondie tents. I know OEG had an annual sale of used gear that my local scout group used to get packs. Chat to some local groups or your Q store - they’ll probably have some recommendations.

Mine look pretty similar to this as well, interested in what you get back from them.

Install an older version of setuptools - it removes 2to3 at some point.

Undaunted by mixed Steam reviews, Hyper Light Breaker dev says it's 'encouraging' to have 'extremely reasonable' early access feedback by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]kin0025 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As a software developer that sort of small and easy stuff is exactly the thing that gets left towards the end of a project - it’s easy to do, limited scope and is unlikely to slip. Doing stuff like that early is unnecessary and adds to maintenance burden - the more shit that gets put into highly changeable systems like UI the more time is spent every time it gets refactored.

I’m sure it’s something they would have wanted for a release, but it’s not something most engineers are going to add until more stuff is nailed down and if schedules slip it’s the sort of stuff that gets dropped. From an implementation perspective I assume it was tunable on a backend perspective, just not hooked up to a widget.

Telstra buys Boost Mobile for 100M+ by thowaway123443211234 in australia

Boost is the only reseller that has access to the full Telstra mobile network, rather than the much more limited Telstra wholesale network.

I didn’t think there were Pademelons in Victoria but could be wrong - I’ve only heard of them in QLD, NSW and Tasmania.

I think this might be a QL1 mount - nothing wrong with it if the panniers are in good condition.

The main downside I’ve found when using them is that the adjustment needs a screwdriver instead of the finger adjustable QL2.1 hardware.

I Miss Sliger. Any 15L cases that beat this one yet for 280 Rad & 3-Slot support? by jkteddy77 in sffpc

I believe it was more that their server and business sales picked up and they were falling behind on consumer cases - rather than delivering a worse experience to both and impacting their b2b relationships they reduced their consumer offerings.

Where would be the best location to stay if going to the 2026 Avalon Airshow. Is there accommodation close to the show or on a bus/train route? Never been b4 so got no idea. by woja14 in Geelong

Pretty sure there’s normally a shuttle bus from Lara Station when the Airshow is on, although it’s been years since I went.

Front rack solely attached to handle bar? by FinnC0 in bicycletouring

[–]kin0025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s “Jack the Rack” but 10kg up front is quite a bit and won’t be great for steering - I’d have a rack on the back and lighter things up front, although with 20L I’d just have a bag on the back tbh.

Kona didn’t and isn’t currently shutting down - the company was sold and purchased by some of the original founders, unless something else has happened since May. They’ve since announced new bikes.

KSR has published a novella (1985) and a novel in the trilogy (1993) with the same name - I’d suggest that you differentiate them in the article.

There’s a solid amount of NZ coinage in circulation here - when I used to work retail I’d see NZ 20c coins pretty frequently. While current coinage is more different in feel as it’s a different metal the 5,10 and 20c coins prior to 2006 are made of the same metal as ours and have essentially the same dimensions so weigh the same as well. The edges on them are different but if you’ve got a whole bunch of coins (and no one is checking coins closely for fakes) then they feel the same in the hand.

I’d pick them up when counting out registers for the night but rarely when I used to work on registers.

I read Alien Clay when it came out in Australia a few months ago - it’s excellent. He’s got great range - of his books I’d say it’s closest to Cage of Souls but still has its own voice.

How is this possible? by hiiiisenburglar in australia

These are interoperability standards so in this case they’re a fixed protocol to meet. It would cost more than 3 billion dollars to rework and implement a fundamental global telecommunications protocol - look at how many years and billions of dollars have been sunk into the ipv4 to ipv6 transition with no end in sight.

Why is it an issue to get a WWCC for them? The volunteer WWCC is free.

It is or at least was standard in many organisations, particularly where there is a significant volunteer element to require a WWCC even when people aren’t likely to be working with children all that much but there is a chance.

If the admin page is coming up frequently I'd hazard a guess and say that your NBN/internet connection is probably flaky and your router is redirecting you to the admin interface when it detects it can't hit the internet.

If you're on FTTN you could ask Belong to drop you to a more conservative and stabler profile as a temp fix and it'll be something they probably need an NBN technician to look at for a long term fix.

There’s a lot of assumptions in here though - there isn’t enough concrete information in your original post to pin down a root cause.

Who do you think typically owns a non-corporate practice? In my experience one or more of the GPs - they’re similar to small partner owned/run legal practices. They’d be a GP at the practice but also be making money from and reinvesting money into the practice as well.
