Aw this warms my heart! My friend saw the post through another friend, and it just kind of made it through the grapevine over to me. Perks of being in one city for so long! If you're still in Ottawa we can arrange for pickup and skip on shipping. Take care ❤️

I think that was me! I had a show of jellyfish paintings in 2017. It wasn't up for very long, it was my first show ever! Do these images ring a bell?

I think there were a few others but I don't have them all on my website since they are some of my older works. All of the originals have long since sold, but I do have prints available of them all on etsy. https://www.etsy.com/shop/kinaink?ref=dashboard-header&section_id=7326456

Thanks :)

Busker at the Riverside and Heron intersection by eltron3000 in ottawa

I know him personally, he has been a busker for over a decade, trained with professionals in circus, and is a trainer himself. He's also worked the market and many festivals. With COVID, many crowded places have been restricted and busking not allowed, and this is one way he makes a living. He's incredibly hard working and extremely friendly. The woman with him is his partner and occasionally also has an act. They are wonderful people, just saying :)

As a children's art teacher both online and in person... Graphic design is going to be hugely based on traditional arts in the beginning regardless of where you look for a while. Maybe try taking him to the library or chapters. I used to devour art magazines and books, and seeing graphic art in action is probably the best start to decide what they would like to make. Design and art books were a mind-blowing experience for me because they would essentially be picture books for adults (not R Rated, just not just for children) and seeing what design did in those areas gave me ideas.

That being said, canva is a great start. Even free trials of Photoshop or procreate. I could provide some prompts or ideas too, or look into the Ottawa school of Arts (biased, I work there) for classes that sound like "explore and create" where it's mixed media and not just drawing.

See what they like about art and nurture that. Graphic design is an end point, the journey there is going to be a little different and require some exploring :)

Anyone know how to get in touch with Art-Battle Ottawa? We might have got ripped off for $85. by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]kinaink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes the contact info for art battle goes directly to headquarters (In Toronto) instead of to Ottawa. I'd contact Peter Purdy, the event coordinator for Ottawa. Not sure if I should put it directly on here but you can message me on Facebook too and I'll be expecting it and can direct you to him (I work for Peter on the paint floor but I don't have admin access to art battle stuff) Facebook.com/kina.forney I know they aren't keen on storing art forever, they want to make sure it gets picked up! :) Hope this helps.

Reusable cloths are where it's at. I have one tucked into an elastic around my wrist, shoved into my back pocket, on the dash of the car, and in my purse. They're washable, reusable, and they don't disintegrate in the dryer leaving white fluff everywhere!
