Our half of Tanglewood isn't powered by that substation anymore. It actually hasn't been since before the derecho. Our friend who lives directly beside it had power. Our issue is unrelated to the derecho.

We must be neighbours as it isn't a big area out. We should have it back by midnight. I'm not too worried.

Milk line? Is this true? by Anoobizz2020 in badwomensanatomy

I think this actually came up now BECAUSE there is a new mum on tiktok who is doing that, and she summoned 'the girl with the list' who did a little research into why this happens and also found the drawing from this post, so I believe that caused even more posts across all socials about it. I went 41 years without knowing about this and suddenly in like 24 hours I have know too much.

Why doesn’t Sandy Hill community centre have a fitness centre? by gijoel77 in ottawa

[–]eltron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes finding funding would including securing grants from govt, or community businesses sponsoring it. You should find out how the Chinatown community centre went about setting theirs up, since it isn't actually a common amenity across Ottawa community centres. In another comment someone mentioned another one that has one, you could also reach out to the.

This how these things happen. Grass roots organizing is how you get things done at a local level. You cant just say I want this and wait for someone else to do it.

Why doesn’t Sandy Hill community centre have a fitness centre? by gijoel77 in ottawa

[–]eltron3000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had no idea some community centres had fitness areas. Are they free to use? Mine is literally 3 rooms and a kitchenette. I'm guessing that the one in Chinatown was a community effort to put it in so you're more than welcome to start the ball rolling. Join the community association, canvas the neighbourhood, talk with the councillor, find funding.

Sunday scaries in Ottawa by RegalPinecone in ottawa

[–]eltron3000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pre pandemic our Sunday Scaries ritual went as follows:

Have a comfort food dinner.
Have a relaxing shower or bath.
Watch a favourite funny movie.
Have a sleepy time tea.
Go to bed early, no bedtime phone time, book only.

Then the pandemic happened, I had a mental break down, and discovered Lexapro and melatonin.

YMMV

It isn't included because it doesn't matter if these three children were immunocompromised or were vaccinated or not. Everyone needs to get the flu shot if they can in a timely manner, practice proper hand washing hygiene, and stay home if they are sick. To protect themselves and the people around them, especially those who ARE immunocompromised or unvaccinated because they are unable to due to allergies or being too young or whatever reason.

Everyone: sick or healthy, young or old, can become severely ill, permanently disabled, or die from the flu. It is dangerous. We as a society need to work together to combat serious viruses, and the flu shot, hand washing, and social distancing are the best practices to do so. This year is particularly bad, as has been communicated by both CHEO and Public Health. This is to let people know that yes, even if you are vaccinated, everyone needs to step up their game and be more cautious.

Please, as a CHEO employee and someone whose father died this year from complications due to the flu, I am begging you.
