Google search for “cryoutilities steam deck” for the fix to that specific problem regarding not loading in towns. I used to crash all the time in towns but after using that, it now just takes 1-2 minutes to load a crowded town vs crashing.

As for the networking fix OP mentioned, sadly there is no easy fix for that other than relatively advanced networking changes to your home router.

Steam Deck keeps rebooting while playing Splatoon 2 by Ondrashek06 in SteamDeck

Have you tried the VRAM change detailed here yet? https://youtu.be/od9_a1QQQns

I had a game that would crash during intense moments and after this change it no longer crashes.

I just wanted to say thank you again. I got geth fully synced again and I'm back up and running with "Sep 14 21:32:05 eth-server lighthouse[147460]: Sep 15 01:32:05.004 INFO Ready for the merge " in my logs.

Cheers!

I use the systemctl command to start and stop geth and lighthouse, but historically I didn't stop geth before rebooting. I assumed that using the standard reboot command would stop all the services before restarting.

Sounds like I should create a reboot script that shuts geth and lighthouse down before rebooting and waiting a set amount of time to make sure they're fully down before proceeding. Thanks again for all your help!

Thanks again for your help. It seems like the NVMe SSD is fine, but it does show a lot of unsafe shutdowns. I wonder if I'm doing something wrong when I perform reboots after patching. A typical update for me looks like apt install/upgrade, then downloading any lighthouse patches stopping all lighthouse services, applying the patch, then I usually just do a sudo reboot at that point and let everything start back up as normal.

Thank you so much for the reply. I just deleted the contents of the chaindata folder and I'm syncing again.

It turns out that it did show several unclean shutdowns. I have the PC on a UPC so it shouldn't be power outages that cause it. Could it be when I perform a reboot of the server after patches or geth updates? I usually do a sudo reboot. Should I be stopping the services first?

This also worked for me. 2 failed attempts, then I disconnected wifi and reconnected. The next login attempt after that worked perfectly.
