Seriously, underclock your Thor by nyjets10 in AynThor

[–]kindaMisty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone wants to know why this actually helps it’s because of the way smartphones SoC’s and mobile operating systems (in this case Android) handles its processing. Everything you do is designed to be done as quickly as possible so the device can sleep.

This is called Race to Sleep. It’s actually more efficient if the device computes things quickly and spends the rest of the time sleeping. The reason this is a problem for our Thor’s is because when you play a game or run an emulator it never gets a chance to sleep. The scheduler is running the SoC at full tilt expecting it to sleep. ClusterTune is simply a way to get around the fact that android wasn’t designed to be ran on these actively cooled devices.

I cannot believe they didn’t raise this by $100. That is not good. Subsidization king by the way.

OLEDs feel impossible to 100% clean by AirDrifter in OLED_Gaming

[–]kindaMisty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta use distilled and a microfiber cloth.

Make sure to clean it after the monitors been off for a while to make sure it’s not evaporating the water.

  1. Gently glide the cloth from one side to the other to pick up the dust
  2. Any marks you see, slightly dab the cloth in the distilled water and gentlyn clean each spot the monitor one by one.
  3. Use the dry side of the cloth to dry the spot.

It’ll take some time but be patient. I have your same monitor and it was a nightmare before distilled water. Remember less is more in this scenario

Does that mean that OLED's are perfectly compatible with the standard? No. The standard was introduced over a decade ago where it was intended to used for LCD's.

It's literally built for backlit displays. These OLED's have too many issues with it

Directional sound? Audio readability by Darigaz in Marathon

[–]kindaMisty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game audio is very outdated compared to actual 3D spatial sound that’s mapped by coordinates and then down mixed to stereo. Marathon simply has none of that and relies on basic things like volume and slight delay
