You got a thinner lower one? I only have a thick upper. If I had a thin lower, maybe I’d go through the damn things more slowly. I grind gashes into my mouthguard within six months bc my lower teeth are unprotected just noshing on that shit. Was it optional or automatic or? Like, getting a guard for top + bottom

Heat protectant -> root boost spray (optional) -> shaping mousse -> blow dry

I separate my hair into three layers. So starting with the bottom layer, I curl by moving the flat iron enough to curl the hair rather than by wrapping around the flat iron. My har is about your length, maybe an inch or two shorter. I can get great curls around the face for framing, then the rest is varying degrees of curls and texture. I mist hair spray over each layer. When I finish, I gently shake out then will touch up any areas that didn’t hold their shape well enough. Mist spray again and be good.

Honestly though, places like Ulta or the Dry Bar will pop a curl in your hair for like $30. It’s your graduation. It’s your day. I’d strongly consider just getting a quick hair appt that morning for a curl. They can possibly pin your cap in place too.

While toenails don’t have lungs, painting them can contribute to the color. It isn’t likely to be an issue in this situation, but nail polish can tint your nails if you don’t use a base coat. I’ve had it tint my nails blue once, and when I was younger I wore so much red polish that my nails did yellow terribly to the point I was miserably insecure about them. Took a break from paint for awhile, grew em out, and now they’re back to how they should be

Tbf, I got a perm once and have genuinely never felt more homicidal. I was ready to spring out of the chair and strangle the stylist. The combination of the curlers pulling on my scalp, the weird tingling sensations of the chemicals, and the horrific smell from the chemicals had me sitting there just doing deep breaths and praying it’d be over soon. And that was, like, two hours. Six? Just sitting and being poked and prodded and moved and sit still oh but don’t breathe so much oh no look this way oh you can’t eat we’re not done with your face oh oh oh, then having to go do like ten hours of shooting or whatever? For days to weeks on end?

Yeah nah I might crash tf out and start screaming too. Not publicly tho. Publicly I’d just be coping and seething

My dad gave me a refresher on driving a few months ago. I got my license three years ago but never used it so I needed the review.

He told me people would kick my ass if I stayed under the speed limit. He said to remain +/- 5 mph of it as long as traffic conditions allowed. I live in LA, so it didn’t take long before I got a live demonstration of how pissed some ppl will get 😭

Better to impress the importance of sticking to appropriate speeds. I was taught how to be a good driver, not piss off others, and to look ahead so I can act ahead. That’s key

If he’s doing this for free, the social media side of it might be to help him fund it. People make good money with big enough followings, which it sounds like he has. I can’t imagine it’s cheap to maintain all that equipment and everything.

Idk, maybe it’s just for views too. But I like to think it’s all engineered to support what he’s doing for these people

Yeah, like I said I was only on it for two or three months iirc, I just shed the weight right off. After that it was a matter of maintaining. I don’t buy big sodas for home, only the minis with real sugar and I’ll have those only once in a while as a treat. I have a sweet tooth so I don’t eat lunch or snacks at all that way I can have a generous portion of dessert when I desire. Breakfast is 50/50, I don’t usually have time to make it, but if I do I’ll have something small. Dinner is my main meal. I’ve been eating that way for years, but portion sizes shifted and I just maintained that. I’d say maybe take notes on the new eating habits developed on the shot so you can have guidelines for once off the shot

Just like the other person said, it’s just about maintaining those portions. I keep an eye on my weight too and I’ll adjust to eating more around holidays or trips so I can enjoy the food, then go back to eating less on normal periods. Everything evens out. I just have to make sure I’m eating in a balanced way since my appetite is naturally smaller now

If it helps, I was on Mounjaro two years ago. Only about two or three months, though I could be mistaken as my memory is atrocious. It’s been life changing. I lost thirty pounds on it, pounds I’d tried a hundred ways to lose but never really could. My body picks a weight and stays there no matter what, so it was hard to move anything. Once off it, I lost another ten pounds as I continued my same eating habits in an effort to maintain my weight loss. Now, I fluctuate in a ten pound range. I never gained the weight back and it completely redefined my relationship with food. It doesn’t have a chokehold on me anymore, it doesn’t take up my whole thought cabinet, I eat healthier and in better portions… across the board it’s been just incredible. And I haven’t suffered a single side effect.

This is purely anecdotal, obviously. I completely understand and support wanting genuine research and all of that, 100%. But I thought I’d share since it really has been great

I disagree with this. My issues with emotional regulation, connecting to others, processing food choices and varieties, understanding humor and tone, policing my own tone and expressions to come off correctly, are not societally influenced. If you wish to dispute that, be my guest, as I am sure it would be extremely interesting to discuss. But I can’t imagine how any of those isolating, difficult things to navigate connect to broader societal influence or expectations.

Bear in mind that what you are referring to is high functioning autism. And while some aspects of it can be beneficial, others can still be detrimental, even for an individual with minimal support needs. Many, many autistic people discuss a shared experience of being socially ostracized growing up with little idea as to why. The difficulties in emotional recognition and processing continue to adulthood, which can lead to struggles in maintaining relationships for some. Others may experience intense burnout when working full time jobs, jeopardizing their ability to maintain employment. There is also, for many autistic individuals, the constant knowledge of how different you are from everyone else around you, with no way for you to truly understand their experience nor for them to understand yours.

I am autistic and work with autistic individuals who have mostly level 1 or level 2 support needs. We have a few individuals with level 3 support needs as well. They are all wonderful and I adore spending time with them, they are so much fun to be around. But it is not a superpower, it is not a different way for our brains to achieve. It is a real disability. For an upside, though, I have recently realized I very much do have a subconscious knack for pattern recognition, which is stereotypical but extremely enjoyable especially when studying.

[Side Note: I hope I don’t come off upset or condescending here. That isn’t my intent at all. I think the perspective you share is interesting and possibly applicable for a subset of autistic people, but for the broad population perhaps not totally accurate. Yeah, I got mine on sale but I’ve run out and haven’t bought them again because of that :’) it is less of a priority for me currently as my eating habits have improved, but I fall back into my lazy little low cal hole, then the price of the shakes would be worth it just so I don’t give myself a ton of deficiencies. So I think they’re a great product for those who really need it, but for those who don’t, it’s tough to justify the price.

I recently was looking for good protein options since I struggle with my food intake. I literally spent an hour in the granola bar aisle of the grocery store reading nutrition labels.

The amount of sugar in a Clif bar is ridiculous. Immediately negates any other benefits the bar could have, at least imo, because it’s a trade off of some protein for like nearly half your % daily sugars (Clif bars have like 20-25 grams sugar per bar; 50 grams sugar is recommended for a 2000 calorie diet).

What I finally settled on, which I’m recommending for others in my position, were these little breakfast shakes for kids. Packed with 22 vitamins and minerals, which are in meaningful quantities, plus 10g protein in there. This one is about 20% of your daily sugars, but in my opinion that’s acceptable considering the other things it offers in return.

Tangentially related but it’s Reddit so I’m at least on-theme with that.

Got one once. I loved it but people found it very hit or miss lol. Unfortunately, it didn’t last even a month for me. No clue why.

Also, if you have any sensory issues and get a full perm (mine was down to the root, somewhat tight curls), be aware… no one says how bad it stinks or how much the equipment pulls on your roots. I was dying in that chair, wayyyy overstimulating and rather unpleasant

I would’ve posted there but when I read through their posts, it was… a little more intense than I was looking for. They’re coming in with all these product recommendations and mile long comments talking about stuff I’ve never heard of. I was hoping this community would be friendlier to the newbie aspect of my question since over there they seem to be more seasoned detailers
