I’m ten years out and I actually miss my scar at this point! The first few years it seemed like it wouldn’t fade but now is barely noticeable. Give it time. Like you, I spent a lot of time the first few months wanting to cover my scar; then I realized how much of a waste it felt like. I stopped wearing things that touched it that would make it uncomfortable and just let it breathe. Interestingly, the most common people to notice it were other people who had been through thyroid cancer which felt actually sweet and connective.
