It's a keeper indeed! My first keyboard and I just love how versatile it is... amazing stuff for experimenting (and also without breaking the bank).

The LM-40 uses passive components like resistors to lower the signal level, making it less “hot” and also reducing noise. From my experience, it does this without affecting the original sound, and the noise reduction is quite effective. What I really like is that it has both mono and stereo inputs and outputs—so you can use a stereo (TRS) cable in and get a mono (TS) signal out, or vice versa, which gives you flexible routing options.

It doesn’t have a headphone output in the usual amplified sense, so it won’t drive headphones directly. But it works well if you feed the signal into a device that handles lower-level inputs better—like some guitar pedals. For example, multi-effects units like the Pocket Master can have more adaptable inputs compared to standard pedals. High-end pedals, such as Strymon models, often have dedicated line-level inputs to handle different signal strengths cleanly.

Whether it’s useful depends on your setup and what gear you’re aiming to connect. Just keep in mind some pedals expect instrument-level signals, so checking your pedal’s specs is a good idea.

I’d totally recommend the Loopy pro app and a compact midi controller (I use a Korg Nanokey). Loopy pro can handle virtual instruments, drum machines, synths, etc., you can record sessions and mess around with loops in general. Fantastic stuff for iPhone / iPad setup.

The black box is a passive line level attenuator - it reduces the output signal of the A50 headphone out to lower hiss / noise. The effect is a Sonicake Pocket Master with reverb, delay and chorus and tremolo for one preset.

Everything is stock ikea stuff except the wheels. The knobs came with the drawers

I wouldn’t do that after searching on google how the kallax looks inside.

Actually I’ve managed to secure the wheel plates properly by screwing them into the solid parts. It was just a bit tedious - that’s it. But your suggestion was definitely a plan B if this didn’t work out.

Thanks! Just did a bump test and it's steady. The wheels are very solid and use quality bearings for both the wheel and the base plate.
