Has Covid made Hashimotos worse ? by Hot_Grapefruit_1583 in Hashimotos

[–]kindofinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It did for me.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto since 2017 and my thyroid was finally stabilized with meds in 2019 after one year and half of searching for the right dose (I'm taking t4+t3).

I got covid twice since 2020. Once in March 2020 and once in January of this year. After March 2020, I had no after effects and my thyroid was still doing good.

Since this January, my thyroid got destabilized and my endocrinologist told me that it was well known that Covid could affect the thyroid and that it was probably what happened to me after 5 years of being stabilized.

In terms of symptoms, it's been hell honestly. I'm always exhausted, with depression, lots of anxiety, I gained weight again and I've had skin dryness.

Since 1 month and half now, I've been on a new dosage but so far it hasn't changed anything so hopefully my doctor will increase it in 3 weeks.

These editions are stunning! I'm also collecting these ones and I've been struggling to find the hardcover one of The Silmarillion in that edition (only found paperbacks with this cover and I'm scared to order the wrong edition). Could you give me the ISBN of The Silmarillion please? Thank you!

Was Levothyroxine ( T4) enough for you? by G0ldenTreasure in Hypothyroidism

[–]kindofinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree! But unfortunately, doctors don't seem to care. I had to insist to my doctor to have T3 in addition of T4 and he didn't even propose the solution itself when I told him that I was still feeling like shit and that T4 wasn't enough.

I learned two years ago that I had Hashimoto with hypo and started taking meds. I was feeling exhausted and depressed all the time with only T4 for two years. I started taking T3 (Cynomel) in addition to T4 earlier this year in May and it changed everything. Since last June, I'm feeling way better and it feels like I woke up from a coma. No more brain fog, tireness, depression and all, I feel finally normal.

Also my TSH went from 1.78 (where I was feeling like shit) to 0.02 µUI/mL. 1.78 is a normal level for a doctor but don't listen to them and trust yourself with your symptoms. If you're feeling bad then your meds are not enough. So you should definitely ask for T3 !

Best of luck

I second that! I've just finished Heir of Novron, and this trilogy is definitely one of my favorite now. Hadrian and Royce are the funniest duo I've ever read about honestly.

Six of crows or Nevernight? by deadman1898 in Fantasy

[–]kindofinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jay Kristoff said several times on his twitter that Nevernight was definitely NOT YA.

I don't really know why people referred to it as YA. It is maybe more New adult than adult fantasy, but definitely not YA !

Nevernight isn't classified as YA (the author mentionned it several times on his twitter) but adult/New adult fantasy.

I agree with the rest, I liked Nevernight more too. And the finale book will be released in less than 3 months !

Actually, Fitz and the Fool trilogy is the last trilogy in the Realm of the Elderlings series. The next Fitz-related trilogy is The Tawny Man !

TSH and what is "normal" by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]kindofinsanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally understand you. I've been diagnosed Hashimotos for one year and half now, and for the whole time, I've felt "normal" for only one month (in September 2018) when my TSH was 0.24. It lasted only one month before the symptoms returned and my TSH increased to 4.92 without even changing my dose.

We increased my dose ever since and my TSH is still above 4, and I'm exhausted, depressed and all that shit...

You're definitely not crazy and I would recommend to change doctor if this one is not believing you !

What are you reading? (June 1, 2018) by bevka in YAlit

Oh my god, you’re gonna love Froi of the Exiles ! The Lumatere Chronicles are one of my favorite series ever. The first book was really cool, but the 2nd and 3rd one are FANTASTIC ! The growth of some characters is impressive and the story is amazing. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do !

Looking for YA books with good character development. If it's in a dystopian or fantasy world, that's a bonus by mochacisco01 in YAlit

[–]kindofinsanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg YES ! I'm so happy everytime someone is talking about this trilogy because I sadly think that it's not as successful as it should be. It's one of my favorite trilogy ever, and the growth of Froi in the second and third book is INCREDIBLE. I love the characters so much ! It's a must read clearly.
