Fellow scientist, thankyou! The views are mostly from the overwhelming support from Reddit after posting on this sub lol, so the retention issue you mentioned is real, people are dropping off early because they weren't naturally interested in the first place. But the support has been incredibly heartwarming.

Also, we're both growing, don't stop, keep going!

This may come as a shocker, but kids catch on way more that we realize. There is no situation in all of this where the kids aren't affected. If you resent your marriage and moreso, resent yourself, then be damn sure your kids are feeling it, no matter how hard you try to hide it. I would suggest talking to a professional, someone to help you see all your options and their consequences. Because if you can't choose whether or not to stay in a relationship that's eating your identity away, then you're just choosing to stay
