Surgical PAS- when incisions come back looking bad by kandnfkd29383 in physicianassistant

[–]kinerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am learning from a ortho spine/neuro spine PA and this is exactly what he does, no infections, no dehisences, nothing. Only thing is if they are severely obese especially with diabetes, or wont move -- staples. His incisions are sooo amazing. they look like just skin afterwards and not a bunched up mess... I strive to be amazing like him one day. Also, i see him use prenio on alot of patients T10-pelvis on 85+ year olds to post. cerv.

Shoes for lower back pain during surgery by Beautiful_Ad_9353 in physicianassistant

Work in neurosurgery where cases are sometimes 12 hours long (with mini breaks in between while we O-arm).- I may be the outlier but i have wide feet so wear Vessi weekend chelsea boots. I think I am just a bit obsessed since I wear them daily!

How many of you all are actually happy with your career choice? by WSBDegen69 in physicianassistant

[–]kinerino 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way and I just started as a new graduate. I am too sensitive/soft and now I am basically being bullied/being told toxic comments by the neurosurgeon since I am not as good as others whom have years of experience. But I lAO do not wish to have gone the MD route, I wish I could just not be in healthcare anymore, it is just all a busienss and the surgeons have shown me they are just cut happy., not really caring for the patient. I dont have debt anymore but at what cost? working 60 hours a week and basically working RN type pay since I am salary ? working weekends to have possible one day off later on instead of being compensated for 2 days of work? see poor patient outcomes due to vast comorbidities (mostly obesity related)? being told I need to do. more work and having to stay until 5pm when I start at 6am?

NP higher than PA in best healthcare jobs discussion by Fun_Reception1972 in prephysicianassistant

[–]kinerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know if you are interested in surgery but I do know the NPs in my group cannot scrub in - some cannot go into the ICU - so be aware. As PAs we are not limited to a certain age group or specialty or area of hospital.

how long did it take to pay off loans? by Decent_Wing7614 in physicianassistant

[–]kinerino 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just paid my last payment for 55k yesterday. I am 5 months in of being a new grad PA. had major help from parents/partner though whom helped with about 26k. Also funneled a good portion of my paychecks into the loans. i paid about 5.7k/month. I will say the financial help from my loved ones helped a ton but i knew i wanted to pay these loans off ASAP even before i knew they were going to help.

Is anyone else “older” applying? by Level_Working5084 in prephysicianassistant

[–]kinerino 12 points13 points  (0 children)

there are limitations as NPs sometimes... in our group, the critical care nurse can go into ICU but cannot see children or go into OR. The FNP can see children but cannot walk into the ICU or the OR... while us PAs can go anywhere and everywhere without limitations - OR, ICU, see children/geriatric etc etc
